'Three's Company' Star Suzanne Somers Cause Of Death Revealed

Iconic actress Suzanne Somers has passed away at 76 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Somers was known for her incredible roles in "Three's Company" and "Step by Step" amongst others. She was due to celebrate her 77th birthday on Monday, October 16.

The "Three's Company" actress passed away on Sunday morning at her home in a statement shared by her longtime publicist R. Couri Hay. Her cancer returned over the summer and she was in treatment before her passing

"Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years," the statement began.

It then continued, "Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family. Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."

According to Hay, Somers would be laid to rest this week in a private family burial ceremony. Later in November, a more elaborate memorial will be held.

Fans may recall that the "Step By Step" star broke the news of her breast cancer returning in a heartbreaking post on July 31. Alongside a touching photo of her and her husband Alan Hamel, she wrote, "As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down. I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me."

Somers, who was hopeful to defeat the disease this time around continued, "I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter. Alan has been by my side every step of the way. I can’t even explain how much he has done for me. If it’s even possible, we are even closer than ever."

She declared that her family has been supportive through her diagnosis and will be running most of her businesses. Somers was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000.

Amid her battle with breast cancer, the late Somers was looking forward to celebrating her 77th birthday in style. Days before her passing, she spoke to People Magazine about her plans for her big day.

The "Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormone" author revealed she would spend her special day with her husband Hamel their children — Leslie, Stephen, and Bruce — Bruce's wife Caroline, and their six grandchildren.

"I heard Caroline is making her famous short rib tacos and I have asked for copious amounts of cake. I really love cake," she told the outlet. Hamel, who joined the interview praised his wife's strength and gave an update about how she was responding to treatment.

"Suzanne and I just returned home from the Midwest where Suzanne had six weeks of intensive physical therapy," the doting husband revealed. "Even after our five decades together, I still marvel at Suzanne’s amazing determination and commitment."

In honor of her cancer returning and the challenging year, Somers created the Suzanne Somers LOVE bracelet. She called it a gift for "amazing friends and followers who have been so loyal and loving to me, especially since my recent health setbacks."

Describing the special piece of jewelry, she told the outlet, "It’s a silver heart design on a gold satin cord and it’s a way for us to send and receive love and feel the unity of our most important human connection."

The "Candid Camera" co-host continued, "The message on the card memorializes a voice that I heard, as clear as day, when I was in the hospital about 10 years ago. It said, ‘It’s not who you are. It’s not what you have. It’s not what you do. It’s only about who you love and who loves you. The voice was so loud and clear, it was as though it came through the speaker system."

Somers will no doubt be missed by many!
