UPDATE

6:00 PM PT: Employees at the 7-Eleven in Santa Monica tell us Redmond had been casing the joint for hours, and even purchased a Slurpee before the robbery. We're told that luckily a good samaritan had witnessed Redmond acting suspicious and already phoned police. Cops were on the phone with the bystander when Redmond pulled the knife on the store clerk and demanded cash, and we're told police heard the whole thing on the other end.

We're told Redmond got $60 from the clerk, but cops responded within minutes of the initial call and arrested him right away. The manager at the store tells us the employees, and the good samaritan, were unharmed.

Redmond O'Neal robbed a convenience store by threatening the clerk with a knife, this according to the LAPD.

As The Blast first reported, O'Neal — the troubled son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal — was arrested Tuesday in Santa Monica.

The LAPD tells The Blast they received a call at 2:30 AM on Tuesday from a clerk reporting a robbery at a convenience store. The clerk told police a man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded the clerk hand over the money in the register.

According to the clerk, he obliged and the suspect fled the store.

A short time later, the LAPD says Redmond was stopped by officers and found to be in possession of a knife, which matched the description the clerk gave of the weapon used in the crime.

Police say the clerk was able to identify Redmond O'Neal, who was booked a short time later.

The LAPD says the case will soon be turned over to the district attorney.

The arresting document notes that his bail would have been $50,000, however, he is currently being kept in custody on a probation hold and therefore being denied bail.

Redmond has had many legal troubles over the years and was most recently sentenced to three years in prison back in 2015 after a judge from a previous case revoked his probation. He was originally arrested for heroin possession in 2008 and has violated probation multiple times since.

Remond’s half-sister, Tatum O’Neal, has also publicly voiced her concern over his well-being.
