Donald Trump Moves to Lock Down Controversial Family Crest for Racks on Racks

Donald Trump took some major heat when it was revealed he appropriated another family's crest for use at his Mar-a-Lago estate, but now the Prez is doubling down by trying to make the mark officially recognized in the United States.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, an LLC associated with Trump recently moved to trademark his family crest for use on furniture; specifically shelving and storage racks.

The crest has been marred in controversy after it had been revealed that it was actually a coat-of-arms belonging to the Tydings family, whose grandfather was married to heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and used the mark at the Mar-a-Lago estate when it was originally built. Except back then, the crest displayed the word "Integritas" instead of "Trump." The Latin word for integrity was completely removed.

Trump's already been using it at his properties and golf courses in the U.S., despite being banned from using the crest in the UK by the coat-of-arms authority in Scotland. Now it appears he's trying to make it official in America.

The description of the crest is packed with as much flare as one would expect, including:

• Stylized cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, bears, lions and tigers

• Leaves

• Bayonets; harpoons hunting knives, daggers and spears

• Helmets, armor

• Shields

• Banner carrying the name "TRUMP"

• Angles, chevrons
