Anthony Chickillo Has Meltdown In Hospital
The former Pittsburgh Steeler was at the Hialeah Hospital in Hialeah, Florida on Thursday morning when he had a meltdown.
According to TMZ, the Hialeah Police Department stated that bystanders witnessed Chickillo suddenly snapped and began "trashing" an office, proceeding to break things and throw chairs.
Cops then say the former football player "tried to attack everybody" before he got into a "wrestling match" with his dad. That is when bystanders called 911.
Officers Arrive On Scene And Tase Anthony Chickillo
After witnesses called 911, officers quickly responded and arrived on scene, where they quickly had to pull out their stun guns and tase Chickllo to subdue him.
Photos and a video of the incident were shared by TMZ Sports, which show the 30-year-old barefoot and shirtless before the officers were able to place him in handcuffs.
However, the Hialeah Police Department did not arrest Anthony Chickillo; instead, he was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold.
Once he is released, TMZ Sports was told he will not be arrested because nobody at the doctor's office wanted to press charges.
Anthony Chickillo's Past Run In With The Cops
This is not the first incident with law enforcement that Chickillo has had.
The former NFL player, who was drafted by the Steelers in 2015, was arrested in 2019 for domestic violence after allegedly roughing up his girlfriend. At the time, it was reported that Chickillo was at the exclusive Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania where he got into an argument with his girlfriend, Canadian track athlete Alysha Newman.
Newman told officers that she and her boyfriend began arguing over table games, which then carried on into the couple's room, where things turned violent.
The athlete then told cops that Chickillo grabbed both of her arms and threw her against a wall and door before shoving her to the ground.
Police noticed "visible redness" on both Newman's right and left bicep area and "bruising beginning to form". Chickillo admitted to pushing her to the ground before he was arrested.
