Drake is taking a well-earned music hiatus to focus on his health!
The rapper, born Aubrey Drake Graham, shocked fans on Friday by announcing a break from music. The Canadian needs time away from the studio to uphold other priorities, especially his well-being issues.
The "God's Plan" hitmaker's announcement came at the heels of the social media backlash the entertainer has received over the repeated postponement of his eighth studio album, "For All the Dogs." Once the LP drops, fans can kiss any new songs goodbye for at least a year.
Drake Will Not Be Making New Music While Addressing Overdue Stomach Problems
The Grammy winner broke the news on the latest episode of his SiriusXM show, "Table for One." A snippet of the media personality's monologue was shared on the platform's YouTube page, capturing the father of one's sassy reflection about his new album and underlying health issues.
Drake said his well-being influenced his hiatus and vowed to others. "I probably won't make music for a little bit, I'm going to be honest. I got some other things I need to do for other people that I promised, but I probably won't make music for a little bit," the chart-topper confessed.
"I'm going to be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, and I'll talk about that soon enough. Nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life," the Canadian sensation continued before spilling the tea about his gastrointestinal issues.
"I've been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach," the Grammy winner revealed. "So I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right, and I'm going to do that." Reaffirming that he had other priorities outside making new music, the Teen Choice Award recipient added,
"I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on, so I'mma lock the door on the studio for a little bit. I don't even know what a little bit is, um, maybe a year or something, maybe a little longer."
Drake's announcement implied that "For All The Dogs" would be his last gift to fans until his hiatus was over. Speaking of the entertainer's eighth studio project, the "One Dance" artist gave a saucy album review with his signature rhythmic linguae.
"How can I describe this album to you? I'll keep it short and sweet. Please don't ask me what I feel if you can't handle the real that's it, that's it," the rapper chimed.
"I apologize in advance; that was probably the alternate album title, too. You know, to All My Exes, I'll tell you one thing, you know the value of every purse, but you definitely don't know the value of hard work. God bless you all, though," the 36-year-old boldly declared.
The BET Award winner noted he hoped his exes could enjoy the songs and tell others they were about somebody else. "For All the Dogs, I love each and every one of you," Drake concluded.
The OVO Sound Founder Got Bashed For Postponing His Album's Release Date
Last month, fans bared their fangs at the "Hotline Bling" rapper following another postponement of his "For All The Dogs" album. The media personality broke the news on his Instagram Story, sharing the LP's cover art created by his son, Adonis Graham.
The image featured a white dog with red eyes, and underneath this adorable doodle came the heartbreaking announcement. Drake explained that he was stuck between completing his studio project and prioritizing his ongoing concerts.
"Okay, my dilemma I am faced with is either cancel shows to finish the album or I complete the mission and drop the album before the last show," the 36-year-old revealed. "I owe you all these memories. We are building, and anywhere we have missed to date, we will be spinning back for sure."
The "Degrassi: The Next Generation" star promised the album would drop on Friday, October 6, but fans were not convinced given his previous broken promises. A disappointed admirer penned: "Drake has literally pushed back every album he has made. He even pushed back TML (Thank Me Later), so idk why I'm surprised. But it will always surprise me."
Another displeased social media user wailed: "Why would Drake announce a release date for an album that's not even done yet?" These critics also echoed their anger against the Hip-hop star days earlier when he appeared at a strip club with a massive Tupperware filled with cash.
