Hugh Jackman To Write New Memoir Following Divorce
Just a few weeks ago, Hugh Jackman shocked the Nation after he announced he and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, were ending their marriage after 27 years. The two share two kids, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18. Now, he is getting ready to release a new tell-all memoir.
“Hugh [Jackman] is currently working on a memoir,” an insider told Us Weekly. “He is in the early stages of writing it.”
The insider added, “Hugh’s choosing to [write this book] now because he’s finally [being] honest with himself [and] the divorce, and this book is the first step.”
Hugh Jackman Divorces His Wife of 27 Years
In September, The Blast reported that Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness were divorcing after 27 years of marriage. The two released a joint statement, which read, “We have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”
The couple, who met on the set of the Australian TV series “Corelli,” share two kids together.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” People Magazine shared of the statement from Jackman and Furness.
The statement continued, “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
Hugh Jackman To Drop 'Big Bombshells' In Memoir
Just days after it was announced Jackman and Furness were separating, the "Wolverine" actor subtly addressed his split. “I don’t feel quite right talking about it on the street,” Jackman told a cameraman on the streets after he was approached and asked about the split. “But I appreciate your thoughts, man.”
He added, “It’s a difficult time.”
The divorce is not the only thing the "X-Men" star plans to share in his new memoir, as he also promises to drop "big bombshells".
“The content will be Hugh [Jackman] speaking about his life,” the insider continued. “He’ll be opening up about his life like never before.” Adding that so far, “It’s been very healing for him.”
Hugh Jackman Gushes About Meeting Deborra-Lee Furness
In 2017, Hugh Jackman gushed about how he met Deborra-Lee Furness to People, saying, “Deb, she was a big star…I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. I’ll never forget."
He added, “She took off her seatbelt and she turned around and put out her hand and took off her sunglasses and said, ‘Hi, I’m Deborra-lee Furness, nice to meet you.’ I remember thinking, ‘I like this girl.'”
Although they had chemistry off the bat, it still took Jackman over six weeks to gain the courage to ask Furness out. “Deb and I were already best friends, and I realized, I’ve got a crush on my leading lady. This is the thing you do not do. It’s unprofessional and embarrassing,” he noted.
