The Ryder Cup venue in Rome was thrown into disarray after a massive fire broke out at the temporary hospitality building at the Marco Simone Golf Club.

Firefighters were immediately on the scene to help contain the disaster, which caused a huge, black cloud of smoke to shoot off into the sky, severely increasing the heat in its surrounding area.

While speaking about the fire outbreak, a Ryder Cup Europe spokesperson said, per Sky News, "A fire was reported in one of the temporary hospitality structures to the right of the first fairway at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club earlier this afternoon."

Ryder Cup Europe released a statement confirming that no one was injured and noted that the cause of the fire was being investigated.

"Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire did not spread beyond the hospitality structure. There was no damage to the golf course or any other structure. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated," the statement read.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, authorities considered asking local residents to vacate their homes in the area due to the "unbreathable air." Roads leading to the golf club were also reportedly closed.

The grandstand at the Marco Simone Golf Club hosted spectators for last week's event, which saw Europe win back the Ryder Cup trophy from the United States.

Europe Wins Back Ryder Cup Trophy

The shocking fire incident at the Ryder Cup venue comes on the heels of the exciting showdown between Europe and the United States, which saw the former come out on top and win back the Ryder Cup trophy.

Team Europe beat Team USA 16.5-11.5. Their stunning victory comes after they lost the trophy two years ago in a 19-9 win for the American team.

Following their loss this year, U.S. captain Zack Johnson commended Europe's "phenomenal" performance while fighting back tears. He said, per Time, "I think the European team played some phenomenal golf. I think it really is quite that simple. Team USA will be better for it. We'll figure it out."

Speaking on their win, Team Europe's Rory McIlroy said, "We were so disappointed after Whistling Straits. We all were. We wanted to come to Rome and redeem ourselves. I just knew I needed to put in a better performance for my team this week."
