The Sad Reason Behind Pamela Anderson's Decision To Stop Wearing Makeup

Pamela Anderson's decision to go makeup-free during recent appearances has garnered widespread praise. 

The former "Baywatch" star confidently showcased her natural beauty at fashion events in Paris, wearing a figure-hugging lime dress that accentuated her toned physique.

Anderson's choice to embrace this new look was inspired by her makeup artist Alexis Vogel's passing from breast cancer in 2019. She views it as a liberating and rebellious choice, distinct from the mainstream makeup trends.

Pamela Anderson has received widespread acclaim for her bold decision to go makeup-free. The "Baywatch" star showcased her natural beauty at the Isabel Marant Womenswear Spring/Summer 2024 show in Paris, donning a figure-hugging lime dress that accentuated her toned physique. She complimented her outfit with beige wrap heels and a studded purse.

In August, Anderson shared with ELLE that her perspective on beauty shifted after her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, passed away from breast cancer in 2019. 

She explained: "[Alexis] was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it's just better for me not to wear makeup." The actress added that the change has been "freeing, fun, and a little rebellious."

She said: "Because I noticed that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it's just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite of what everyone's doing."

Pamela Anderson also reflected on the aging process, acknowledging that it's been a personal "journey" for her. 

She humorously mentioned, "I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I'm kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, 'Wow, this is really... what's happening to me?' It's a journey." 

Despite these transformations, she emphasized feeling grounded and content, stating, "I feel rooted for. I feel good. I'm in a good place."

She also revealed that her decision to go makeup-free was partly inspired by her realization that she often "just went along with what people were telling me what to do" early in her career.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress explained that when she does wear makeup, she prefers a more understated look, emphasizing, "The 90s was the 90s, and now it's 2023. I like to do things that are different, I feel like… [and] this is a new chapter of my life."

She added: "Natural beauty still takes two hours in front of a mirror. It's funny because, you know, I'm always in the garden now. I always have dirt under my nails. So it's nice to wear diamonds just to glam it up a little bit."

During an interview with I-D magazine, Anderson discussed her recent beauty choice, emphasizing the importance of "self-acceptance."

The 56-year-old expressed her shift towards embracing this new chapter in her life, stating, "This is a chapter of my life I'm trying to embrace now. You have to understand that you are good enough and you are beautiful. I like to say the word life-ing instead of aging."

"Chasing youth is just futile. You're not going to get there so why not just embrace what's going on," Anderson continued, "Since I've walked out of the door as me, I feel a relief, just a weight off my shoulders and I actually like it better. I'm dressing for me now, not for anyone else."

When asked about her most significant beauty secret, Anderson responded straightforwardly: "These days, don't do anything."

Academy Award-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis recently commended Anderson for her decision to go makeup-free. Curtis described this choice as both an "act of courage and rebellion" and declared it the start of a "natural beauty revolution."

Taking to her Instagram page on Monday, the "Freaky Friday" actress celebrated Anderson's appearance amid fashion week, writing, "Pamela Anderson in the middle of fashion week with so many pressures and postures, and and and, this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face." 

She added: "I am so impressed and floored by this act of courage and rebellion."
