Katy Perry's alleged dedication toward kicking elders to the curb after buying their homes from them has inspired a new bill.

The bill comes amid the award-winning singer and television personality's ongoing legal battle with an 84-year-old veteran named Carl Westcott. The octogenarian and his family filed a lawsuit in an attempt to prevent the sale of his eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom Santa Barbara, California mansion that Katy and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom bought for $15 million.

Social Media Users React To An Impending Act Seemingly Protecting Elders From Katy Perry

Just a few days after the real estate trial began, efforts to introduce the Protecting Elder Realty for Retirement Years Act, otherwise known as the Katy PERRY Act, have intensified. The bill, if adopted, will address "the risks of elder financial abuse, especially as it relates to property and real estate sales and transfers."

"The Act establishes a 72-hour cool-down period during which either party involved in a contract for conveyance of a personal residence, in which one party is over the age of 75, can rescind the agreement without penalty," the website dedicated to the Act further claimed.

Since the update was also shared on X, it quickly became a popular topic amongst users, with one person attempting to explain the situation. They wrote, "for those who don't get it: the bill is against katy perry because the elderly have literally died from going through [a] legal dispute with her," above a screenshot of a headline.

The headline, as it turned out, was focused on the nun, Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, who died in March 2018 amid a court battle opposing Katy's $14.5 million purchase of an 8-acre convent in Los Angeles. Going even further, the same netizen penned in a separate X:

"IN POP TERMS: an old man & california released a collab that will gag katy perry by making it illegal for her to drag elderly people through court battles and try to snatch their real estate. katy previously ended a nun (who dropped dead in court) and is now tryna come for this old man. these old california gurls are done being hot n cold and are sending katy into an eternal flop era."

"imagine getting an elder abuse bill named after you," a second person stated, as a third crowned Katy the "Queen of pop and legislation," and a fourth expressed, "I'm sad that it had to be Katy Perry but I'm happy that something like this is being taken seriously. Take care of your elderly family members and things like this can happen less often."

A fifth claimed, "Lmaooo they had to come up with something to stop her," and a sixth pointed out, "seems like thats all she does nowadays is court cases and drama."

As the case continues to unravel, Carl's daughter-in-law, Kameron Westcott, has been keeping her 382k followers updated through her Instagram Story. In fact, on the second day of trial, the "Real Housewives of Dallas" star uploaded a video of her sporting a perfectly made-up face and bouncy blond curls.

Kicking off the clip, which included a #huntingtonsdiseaseawareness hashtag in reference to the inherited condition that allowed the nerve cells in Carl's brain to break down over time, she began:

"We're on trial day two and I just wanted to explain the obvious. The other side is basically saying he was in the right state of mind to sign the docu sign that he signed. And again, he is 84-years-old. At the time, he still had Huntington's disease, dementia, and within that, you have impulsive behaviors."

Kameron Claims Her Father 'Didn't Intend' To Sign Over His 1930s Home

Kameron asserted that her father-in-law had a change of heart after the action was already taken, acknowledging that he "didn't intend to sign that." The Internet personality finished her monologue with this conclusion:

"We're just here fighting for his justice and I just hope in the future this doesn't happen to anybody else's parents. Just horrible to have to go through this. We have to protect our elders. We have to be a little more kind to our elders and it might look like they're in the right state of mind but that doesn't mean they are."

Since news of Katy's latest real estate scandal surfaced, there have been reports of Carl claiming that he was under the influence of painkillers when he initially sold the 1930s home to the "Roar" singer and her beau in July 2020, thus lacking the mental capacity to understand the consequences of the deal.
