Fans Gush About Striking Resemblance Of Viola Davis And Daughter

Viola Davis surprised her fans on social media by sharing a delightful treat — precious moments with her strikingly similar-looking daughter Genesis.

For those who do not know, the "EGOT" holder welcomed the tween into her family alongside her husband, Julius Tennon, through adoption in 2011. The heartwarming photos, which highlighted their uncanny likeness, left fans truly touched.

Taking to Instagram, the "How to Get Away with Murder" star shared a stunning picture of the mother-daughter duo in a pose that spoke volumes of their bond. Standing face-to-face, they held hands and looked into each other's eyes with a soft smile.

The youngster sported big brown braids and wore a matching shirt with a bejeweled collar, while Davis wore a green long-sleeved sweater. The following slides were throwback images of the pair when Genesis was much smaller. One also showed them wearing Beyoncé's Ivy Park merchandise while posing with the PR box it came in.

The final slide saw them with their heads together, sporting similar-looking smiles. The 58-year-old's caption, "My daughter is my heart. ❤️ #HappyNationalDaughterDay," demonstrated that only a few words were enough to convey the meaning of love. 

Meanwhile, in the comments, fans could not get over how much the 13-year-old resembled her mother. They could not help but excitedly point it out, stating, "You look so much alike 🥹❤️," "❤️ she looks exactly like you!!! ❤️" and "Beautiful the little apple did not fall far from the tree.. momma."

Most of the "Fences" star's devotees added compliments to their observations, like this admirer who noted that Davis and the teenager had the "Same beautiful smiles." At the same time, another gushed, "You shared with her everything beautiful about you. You both look just perfect." Others also called them "BEAUTIFUL QUEEN & PRINCESS," "cute," and "gorgeous." 

Apart from looking alike, there might be a possibility that Genesis takes after her iconic mother in her career as well. In April, the "Doubt" actress expressed her thoughts on the potential of the youngster entering the acting world. 

When asked about it at the 48th Chaplin Award Gala in New York, Davis confided to ET that she was unsure if Genesis had caught the "acting bug." It seems the idea did not elicit much excitement from her daughter, who she said was more like "eh" about it.

Despite her indecision, the proud mother and her husband wholeheartedly backed Genesis's pursuits, acting or not. Tennon emphasized, "We are going to support whatever it is she wants to do, but we don't know what that's going to be yet." 

It is no secret that sometimes, most Hollywood unions do not last a decade before falling apart. That would not be the case for Davis, as she achieved a remarkable two decades of marital harmony. 

To celebrate the enviable feat, Davis commemorated their wedding anniversary by sharing six snapshots, each capturing cherished moments with Tennon. The Rhode Island College alumna, seated in the back of a convertible, leaned affectionately on her beau, gazing at him with adoration.

The couple embraced each other warmly in the second, while the third was a throwback to their younger days as they smiled at the camera. The following two showed moments from their wedding in 2003 and, presumably, a vow renewal with their daughter.

Finally, the carousel culminated in capturing "The Help" actress draped in a floor-length black-and-white striped dress. With an arm wrapped around her waist, Tennon looked dashing beside her in a two-piece suit and white shirt. Alongside the snaps, the "Suicide Squad" star wrote, 

"20 years of connection. We've seen the loss of family members and held each other up. We've had accolades, triumphs, joy, grief, and exhaustion, and I still feel your grip. Through the fire and brimstone of life, we have held on…together…..to each other….understanding no matter what, the promise is not to let go. To the end, my love…. Happy 20th Anniversary!!!"
