In their custody battle, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas seem to have reached a temporary agreement.
The estranged couple reportedly agreed to keep their two children in New York. The turnaround comes shortly after Turner went to federal court last week, invoking a child abduction law and alleging that Jonas had not handed over their kids' passports.
Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner Apply Temporary Brakes In Their Custody Battle
Soon after Turner requested that her estranged husband return their two young daughters to England, the two reached an interim consent order. This order prohibits both parties from taking the children out of the state.
The court agreement, filed on Monday and obtained by DailyMail, specifies that their three-year-old daughter, Willa, and their one-year-old daughter whose name has remained unknown] must stay within New York's Southern or Eastern Districts. This area encompasses New York City, the Hudson Valley, and Long Island.
Per the filing, the "Barely Lethal" actress and the award-winning singer "have agreed to the entry of the attached proposed Interim Consent Order, without prejudice to either party's claims and defenses, prohibiting the removal of the parties' children from the jurisdictions... pending further order of this Court."
The court order was put in place to ensure the well-being of the children, as indicated in the document filed by Turner's lawyer, Stephen Cullen. The legal rep further noted that the order also serves to "prevent the (children's) further removal or concealment before the final disposition of the petition."
This filing appears to signal a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing custody battle between the exes following their recent exchange of allegations over the past two weeks. It comes after The Blast shared that Jonas had responded to Turner's lawsuit above by dubbing it a "harsh legal position" that could potentially disrupt the planned initially "amicable co-parenting setup."
The 34-year-old's attorney had then refuted the Emmy-nominated actress' claim that she learned about the divorce "through the media," stating that she was entirely "aware" of the impending split and that there were "multiple conversations" between the two regarding it.
In case you missed it, the "Dark Phoenix" star had mentioned in her divorce documents that the "breakdown of her marriage" to Jonas "happened very suddenly." The assertion that the "Do It Like That" hitmaker had not given her heads-up about the divorce was further heightened when the screen goddess alleged through the docs that she learned about it "through the media."
The 'Survive' Actress Experienced A Surge In Her Finances & Social Media Account
Besides the divorce drama, Turner recently appeared in headlines when her company, Sophie Bee Enterprises Ltd, reportedly grew its earnings by $371,000. The 27-year-old owns two investment properties in Maida Vale and Belsize Park and residences in the U.S. that she shared with Jonas.
The company, which is responsible for her acting income through a trust, had been initially managed by her parents. However, as the days of her marriage to the Jonas Brothers band member drew closer, she took complete control of the company, which included ownership of these properties.
The mother of two's wealth also significantly increased during her teenage years, primarily due to her portrayal of Sansa Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones." She held this role from 2011 to 2019 and received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance in the final season.
Additionally, since news of her split from Jonas became public, Turner has experienced substantial growth in her social media following. Research suggests that she has gained at least 156,266 new followers on her Instagram account during this period.
The surge in the "Oblivion" music video Vixen's social media account contrasts her ex-partner's, who has allegedly gotten fewer followers, totaling about 54,243. Before this update, the couple had issued a joint statement announcing their decision to end their marriage. It had read at the time:
"After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
