George Clooney has confirmed he has no intentions of selling his Lake Como villa.
It comes after rumors that the actor had put up the 25-room estate for sale via an anonymous Italian agency. Clooney has owned the house for 21 years, following its purchase in 2002 for $10 million.
The house and residences around it have reportedly risen in their worth since the "Ocean's 11" star moved to the location. Per reports, the villa is now worth around $100 million.
George Clooney Says 'It's Not True
Recent rumors that Clooney is selling off his Lake Como residence are reportedly false.
"The first I heard of it was when Page Six published the story. Everyone picked it up. It's not true," the 62-year-old told People magazine via his rep.
The palatial residence, dubbed Villa Oleandra, is located in the little village of Laglio off the western shore of Lake Como. It is known for its breathtaking views of the lake and its surrounding mountains.
Clooney purchased the home in 2002 for $10 million after filming the movie Ocean's Twelve in the area. It has 25 rooms and features a collection of relaxation areas like a tennis court, outdoor pool, gym, and theatre.
It also has a massive garage where Clooney parks his extensive collection of vintage motorcycles. The value of George Clooney's Lake Como home is now estimated at $100 million.
George Clooney Often Spends Time At The Residence
Clooney is known to often spend time at the location with his wife, Amal. Per reports, numerous high-profile celebrities have visited the residence, with names like Barack Obama, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Julia Roberts among the few who have done so.
Years later, Clooney bought another piece of property next to his house, making it one of the most significant private homes in the area.
For Clooney, owning such an impressive estate isn't just about possession; he also dedicates time to engage in the community matters of Lake Como when necessary. He was reportedly actively involved in the cleanup efforts when the region was hot with severe rainfall and landslides in 2021.
At the time, the local mayor, Roberto Pozzi, told the U.K. Times that the actor "came straight to the town hall to see what had happened, and we took a tour of the damage."
George Clooney Met His Wife Amal At Lake Como
In Lake Como, Clooney first met his wife, Amal, in 2013. She was passing through on her way to Cannes, France, with a mutual friend.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, Clooney recalled meeting Amal and immediately enamored by her beauty and other qualities.
"I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and smart," George said about their first meeting.
The two immediately had a connection during their first meeting. However, it took some time before they became an item.
"She sent some pictures from when she was here, and we were writing each other, emailing, talking, mostly about what was going on in each other's lives," Clooney added, explaining how they kept in touch after their first meeting.
He continued, "And over some time, it became clear we were more than just friends."
He Married Amal In 2014 At Aman Canal Grande Resort
In 2014, Clooney married Amal at the Aman Canal Grande resort in Venice in the presence of friends and colleagues, including Matt Damon, John Krasinski, and Emily Blunt.
At first, the couple wanted the wedding to be very low-key, but eventually, the cat was let out of the bag.
"Once people got wind of it, it became an event. We took a bus from here to Venice, then we got on a boat, and once we got on the boat, there were so many paparazzi and so many people standing there waiting," Clooney told The Hollywood Reporter.
He added, "We were sitting in the boat, and I was like, 'You know what? Why are we hiding? Why are we ducking? We shouldn't be ashamed of this.' And we got up and waved,"
The duo welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander C, three years later at St. Mary's Hospital in London.
