Britney Spears To Sell Her 2006 Black Mercedes Amid New Car Purchase

Pop star Britney Spears just got a new car amid her divorce from actor Sam Asghari.

The 29-year-old actor filed for divorce from the 41-year-old pop star on August 16, although he listed July 28 as their official date of separation on the legal filing.

The pop star took to Instagram on Saturday morning to show off her new car, so it looks like she has no need for her old one.

Britney has not been driving around the streets of Los Angeles in her black 2006 Mercedes for a while now. In fact, the black 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK350 has been on display at the Volo Auto Museum in Illinois since 2011, but it looks like the Princess of Pop is finally ready to part with it.

The car is now being sold for $70,000, according to TMZ. The black convertible was once infamous for driving down the streets of Los Angeles in 2007 when Britney got into quite a few scrapes with paparazzi along the city streets, who photographed hundreds of pictures of the iconic car almost every day.

According to her outlet, in the year before her conservatorship started, Britney ran through multiple red lights, went for many late-night drives, and also had an infamous hit-and-run that dominated headlines at the time.

Things ended in January 2008 when Britney was removed from her house by an ambulance and rushed to the hospital. The following month, she was placed under a conservatorship that was not struck down by a judge until November 2021.

It is unclear when the car was driven last, but there are certainly plenty of fans who would love to own a piece of pop culture history.

Late Friday night, the "Toxic" singer took to Instagram to show off her new car. She did not disclose what type of vehicle she bought or share many of the details. Instead, she shared a short video that featured her fixing her long straight hair around her face while looking directly into the camera.

In the caption, Britney wrote, "Driving in my new car with my new assistant !!!" along with a few emojis.

Britney has often talked about her car as her "spaceship" and referred to it as a place where she could feel safe. In December 2022, she shared a few details of her marital woes in a since-deleted Instagram post.

Britney revealed that Sam "hates" her medication practice and felt that she had become "bonkers" due to her new routine. At the time, she wrote, “I’m that meditation b—- now ??‍♀️… my husband hates it … he thinks I’ve gone bonkers."

“Falling deep into yourself … I say all this because I try to make an effort to take care of myself,” she continued. “Normally I forget to eat … I wait way too long and I’m too sensitive so if anything goes wrong at the house it’s like the world has ended.”

“So l got in my car yesterday and I cried … I cried so d— hard but geez, my car is my spaceship ? … it’s where I have my best interests, thoughts, creative urges, ideas, it’s spiritual … totally spiritual and we’re all in this together on the road,” she wrote.

“So I don’t feel alone unless those big 18 wheelers come by and hog the road and I want to s— on myself … but it’s me time … my own inner thoughts,” she added.

It is possible that Britney might discuss her experiences with driving in her upcoming memoir, "The Woman In Me." The highly anticipated book is scheduled to be released on October 24.

In addition to her memoir, Britney's 2002 film "Crossroads" will also be coming back to theaters for a global fan event that will run for two nights: October 23 and October 25.
