Chris Hardwick's Ex Chloe Dykstra Alleges 'Long-Term Abuse' in Emotional Essay

Actress and cosplayer Chloe Dykstra has released a lengthy, emotional essay detailing years of abuse she endured in a past relationship.

While Dysktra does not name her subject, it is being widely speculated that the ex-boyfriend she describes as "almost 20 years my senior" who grew "from a mildly successful podcaster to a powerhouse CEO of his own company" is TV host and Nerdist CEO Chris Hardwick.

Dykstra and Hardwick dated from 2012-2014.

In a Medium essay titled "Rose-Colored Glasses: A Confession," Dykstra details years of a sexually and emotionally abusive relationship that began with a set of rules marked by "controlling behavior" – these rules left her "alienated," kept away from her close male friends and unable to "speak in public places," drink alcohol or take photos of them together.

Dykstra, who adds she was pressured into accepting a job at her exes company (Chloe co-hosted a show on Nerdist's YouTube channel), went on to describe troubling accounts of regular "sexual assault": "Every night, I laid there for him, occasionally in tears. He called it 'starfishing.' He thought the whole idea was funny. To be fair, I did go along with it out of fear of losing him. I'm still recovering from being sexually used ..."

Chloe, before leaving the relationship, says she "existed solely for him" and as a result suffered depression and weight loss and repeatedly considered suicide. "When cameras were on us? He was a prince. Turn them off, he was a nightmare," Dykstra wrote.

After the relationship ended, Chloe claims her ex successfully blacklisted her by calling several companies she regularly worked for, trying to get her fired by "threatening to never work with them."

Dysktra ended by explaining she wrote about her abusive relationship both for her own closure and also "as a warning for every single one of you, regardless of gender."
