Fans have called out the Chicago Bears management following their deafening silence on Alan Williams' abrupt resignation.

Chicago Bears' Fans Worry About The True State Of Things Between Alan Williams & His Former Team

Even though he claimed he was stepping down for health and personal reasons, the situation surrounding Williams' exit from the Bears has gotten more complicated. As it turned out, multiple social media accounts began making claims that both the Bears' practice facility, Halas Hall, and Williams' residence had been subject to an FBI raid shortly after the 53-year-old announced his resignation.

The unfounded rumors threw football fans into a spin and many of them took to X to air their confusion, with this person expressing, "The Chicago Bears should give some clarity to the Alan Williams situation soon. It does not sound very good at all."

A second fan queried, "Bro is there like a huge bot army opp going on with the Chicago Bears right now? Every single aggregator posted about Alan Williams house and workplace being raided but I can't find a single legitimate source about either place being raided??"

"The Bears not saying anything about Alan Williams and it's been HOURS since the news broke he left is making me suspicious again. Then again, this is the Bears. They cannot do PR for sh*t," a third X user asserted.

A fourth cybercitizen noted that fans had every right to suspect that something else was happening behind closed doors because "In most situations affecting health and family, the Bears would just give Williams an extended leave of absence right?"

"If this is all the Alan Williams resigning is. There's so many bears reporters/writers who need to resign as well," another person typed in response to a post from Courtney Cronin— the Bears reporter for ESPN.

Cronin had written in her X that she spoke with Andrew M. Stroth — a Chicago-based sports attorney working with Williams— and he confirmed that the former Bears DC had resigned "due to health concerns and family issues." Quoting Stroth, Cronin added:

"Given the false rumors and what seems to be out there on social media, I just want to set the record straight that Coach Williams has some health challenges and some family issues he's dealing with and he thought it was the right time to take a step back and deal with those issues. He has tremendous respect for the Bears organization and he just though it was the time to handle this health issue and his personal matters."

The lengthy comment only worried some fans further, making this netizen speculate, "Alan Williams and his attorney keep saying it's about health and family. But when that's really the case, the team does the right thing and they speak about the resignation. Bears have not. Which is weird."

In case you missed it, the dramatic situation began after Williams, who had stayed away from the Bears for a week for what was categorized as a "personal leave," issued a statement announcing his resignation. Per ESPN, the statement read:

"I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history. I value the NFL shield and all that it stands for and after taking some time to address my health, I plan to come back and coach again."

His commitment and respect for the NFL and the Bears was later reiterated by Stroth, who declared, "He has tremendous respect for the Bears organization and he just thought it was the time to handle this health issue and his personal matters."

The Bears brought Williams on board in February 2022, shortly after Eberflus became the head coach. The former Bears employee had previously spent four seasons as the safeties coach for the Indianapolis Colts while Eberflus was the defensive coordinator.

This marked his second stint with the Colts, as he had previously coached defensive backs there for ten seasons from 2002 to 2011. In addition to his time with the Colts, Williams served as the Minnesota Vikings' defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013, boasting more than three decades of coaching experience.
