Sharon Osbourne pulls no punches as she delves into Russell Brand's tumultuous history.
With her trademark frankness, the TV personality chimes in just as the spotlight swings back to the comedian's past amidst serious allegations. The star has found himself at the center of some heavy accusations from several women, covering a spectrum from misconduct to deeply troubling actions.
Sharon Osbourne Shares Candid Opinion On Russell Brand's Controversial Past
When the 70-year-old and her family — husband Ozzy, and their children Kelly and Jack — graced Talk TV's stage to speak with Piers Morgan, she was asked about the swirling scandal involving the actor.
Although it has been reported that the accusations ranged from "abusive conduct to rape, sexual assault, and emotional mistreatment," Sharon chose to talk about Brand's previous clashes with Rod Stewart and Bob Geldof.
These altercations happened over his connections with their daughters, plus her friendship with his daughter Kimberley fueled the TV host's remarks about Stewart. Adding an interesting dimension to the conversation, she mentioned two things she did not like about him, stating:
"One of them is a very good friend of ours, Kimberley Stewart, about what he had done to Kimberley Stewart in front of [Rod]..."
Her second issue was that he did something similar with Sir Bob Geldof. The music manager emphasized, "You just don't do that to people's families, when that father is in the room."
For her, Brand's actions occurring on two separate occasions was a pattern that left a lasting impression on her. ICYMI, back in 2006, the 48-year-old, at the height of his fame, faced the wrath of an enraged Stewart at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards.
The drama unfolded when the activist received his award and made an unsavory comment, stating, "Here's to Rod Stewart who had a go at me earlier this year for too much womanizing... But then again I did have a go on his daughter."
In return, the iconic musician ensured he addressed Brand directly when he came on stage. The "Rhythm of My Heart" singer called him out, "You went with my daughter, did you? Russell, stand up." In response, the former "Big Brother's Big Mouth" host seemed to lose his confidence, admitting quietly that he had just taken "her out for one evening."
Unfortunately, that was not enough to appease the "Maggie May" hitmaker, who pressed further, asking if Brand had behaved appropriately during their outing. This caused him to revoke his earlier statement, saying, "I never touched that girl."
Satisfied with the results of his attack, Stewart, who has eight children, retired, "F***ing right you didn't. You mustn't come up here and boast. I speak here as a father."
Russell Brand's 2006 'Predator' Interview Resurfaces
The "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" star continues to find himself in more damning light, as various older interviews and media moments featuring him have resurfaced, garnering renewed attention online.
An example would be Morgan's interview with the "Rock of Ages" actor from 2006 when he asked the question, "Are you a more successful sexual predator now that you don't drink?"
Due to the resurgence of the interview, the journalist wondered why he asked that question during a recent episode of his talk show, "Uncensored." He explained, "I asked for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, other than it must have been jocular at the time."
The 56-year-old emphasized that at the time of the interview, he was unaware of any assault allegations related to Brand's alleged relationship with the 16-year-old girl.
The English host clarified that he intended the question "as a joke" before recalling the "Hop" star's response, "Yes, but I resent the word 'predator.'" At the time, the "Trolls" actor had also explained his answer, stating:
"I like to think of myself as a conduit of natural forces. After all, the most natural thing in the world for people to do is f**k, isn't it? And people want to do it, so all you have to do is remove all the reasons why women don't actually go through with it, like pride and reputation."
