Lovers of Kraft Singles cheese are advised to stay away from the beloved dairy product.

After a manufacturing error that resulted in the presence of a "thin strip of the individual film" on the slice even after it is removed, the company is taking major steps to take back their faulty product.

Kraft Heinz Recalls Cases That Could Pose A Choking Hazard

On Tuesday, September 19, Kraft Heinz released a statement acknowledging that some of their Kraft Singles American Cheese products have negatively affected consumers and would be taken back.

"Kraft Heinz is announcing a voluntary recall of approximately 83,800 cases of individually-wrapped Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices that were shipped to a limited number of customers," the press released read.

Per reports, "several" consumer complained about finding a piece of plastic in their meal. Six of the affected consumers specifically stated that they "choked or gagged in connection with the issue." Luckily, no serious health issues or injuries have been reported or recorded.

According to Kraft, not all of their products were affected. Those affected are the 16 oz. Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese — which contain an S and 72 in the Manufacturing code — and the 3 lb. multipacks of Kraft Singles American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product with a carton UPC of 0 2100060491-3 with “Best When Used By” of January 9, 2024 and January 16, 2024.

As for the cause of the wrapping plastic remnant, the company explained that "a temporary issue developed on one of our wrapping machines." As a result "a thin strip of the individual film may remain on the slice after the wrapper has been removed."

Nevertheless, Kraft assured their customers that they are "committed to upholding the highest safety and quality standards and apologizes for this inconvenience."

Consumers who wish to return their product can return them to the store or contact Kraft at 1-800-280-8252 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Reimbursement would also be given.
