Wedding gown and fashion designer Mark Zunino is "afraid for his safety" after a former employee allegedly started making threats to "destroy" him and even indicated he would obtain a weapon.
Zunino was granted a temporary restraining order against Kevin Scott Hees, a former employee who is also in the middle of a copyright infringement battle with the designer's label. Zunino is probably best known as one of the most coveted designers on "Say Yes To The Dress."
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Hees sent written communications on June 12 accusing Zunino and his company of bullying, blackmailing and extorting him to the tune of $1.2 million.
"They have FUCKED with the wrong person," Hees wrote. "The REAL decision here will be the one I make as to weather [sic] or not I will destroy these people's lives the way they have destroyed mine."
Several times in the communication Hees repeatedly wrote troubling things such as: "I AM DONE," "I HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE" and "I am no longer afraid of anything."
An attorney for Zunino also claims that Hees has previously threatened to "kill himself."
During a June 26 a settlement conference for their lawsuit, Zunino's attorney claims Hees repeated his threats, this time in front of a federal judge. The lawyer claims Hees indicated he "wanted to go get a gun and destroy our lives."
Hees has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Zunino, his business partners, and his attorneys unless they have to be in court for their pending lawsuit.
There is hearing on the matter at the end of July.
