Teyana Taylor Confirms Her Marriage To Iman Shumpert Is OVER After Cheating Rumors

Teyana Taylor has finally confirmed that her marriage to Iman Shumpert is over. The singer stated that she and Shumpert are still good friends and business partners and co-parenting their kids. Taylor explained that she only made the reveal to clear up the air regarding recent rumors of Shumpert cheating.

Taylor and Shumpert were together for ten years and have two kids, Iman and Rue. The former basketballer's cheating rumors started because of a video of a woman in his chains. 

Teyana Taylor has confirmed to fans on Instagram that her marriage to Iman Shumpert has ended after over ten years. The iconic singer and dancer broke the news on social media by posting a lengthy statement on Sunday. It was accompanied by an adorable picture of her and Shumpert smiling brightly and posing with their hands up.

The statement read, "Not too much on my best friend! In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, 'infidelity' isn't one reason for our departure. We are still best friends and great business partners, and we are one hell of a team when co-parenting our two beautiful children. Most importantly, we are FAMILY & in the ten years together, seven years married, we ain't ever played with or about THAT."

Taylor and Shumpert have been together for quite a while but officially married in 2016. They share two kids, Iman “Junie" Shumpert, 7, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 3. The former couple have been very open about their marriage and family and had a reality show, "We Got Love: Teyana and Iman."

In her Instagram statement, Taylor further explained why she kept the news of their separation private. The actress said their split was kept lowkey because it wasn't anyone's business. This move allowed her and Shumpert to navigate this period of their lives on their terms.

She wrapped up the statement with, "The only reason I'm even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it's unfair to all parties involved. I hope this provided some clarity for you all. Okay, AunTey, I'm taking you all back out of the chat. Bye!"

The post quickly gained thousands of likes and comments, including supportive messages from other celebrities. Keke Palmer wrote, "With grace and class, God bless you and your beautiful family." Niecy Nash also commented, "Sending the whole family love."

Fans also wrote supportive messages to Taylor in the comments. One statement read, "Welp, we have noticed the absence on each other's pages and posts for some time. Now we understand why. As a fan of the two of you and your family, whatever makes each of you HAPPY, may that happen. From the outside looking in, your family unit is STILL beautiful, and your babies look grounded and happy."

Taylor's revelations about their marriage ending come after rumors that he was cheating on her went viral online. They started because of a viral video from The Neighborhood Talk Instagram page, showing another woman wearing his chains and getting cozy with the former basketball player.

However, the woman from the video cleared up the rumors. She claimed to be one of Shumpert's artists and that he and all his artists wear the chain. She also blamed social media blogs for spreading the fake news.

Amid the shocking cheating rumors, singer Kelly Price spoke up in Taylor's defense for not addressing the claims. Price took to her Instagram Live to address some of the most prominent critics against Taylor. The "As We Lay" singer said she decided to defend Taylor and Shumpert after seeing Black bloggers slamming them for the rumors.

She said, "About the fact that she speaks up for her family and when there are allegations out there that she comes to the defense of her family, and she comes to the defense of her husband. What else is she supposed to do? She's not a sidepiece. She's not a side hoe. She's a wife. They have a family."

At the moment, neither Taylor nor Shumpert have filed a legal petition to end their marriage officially.
