Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is turning 28 years old today! Despite it being his big birthday, Mahomes had to take the field as he and the Chiefs took on Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars -- and it was a rough one!
Chiefs Struggle In First Half
Last week, all-star tight end Travis Kelce was out against the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, the team could not pull off a win without Kelce as the Lions beat the Chiefs 21-20.
The Super Bowl MVP was back in the game today, however, he did not get as many targets as the fans had hoped. Mahomes and the Chiefs struggled in the first half, not scoring the first touchdown of the game until within the final two minutes of the first half.
The birthday boy was 15 for 21 in the first half with 144 passing yards and one touchdown to Sky Moore and one interception. Hopefully the team turns it around for second half because fans are already getting on Mahomes' case.
"Patrick Mahomes is having an awful birthday so far," one fan Tweeted as another chimed in, "Patrick Mahomes is having a roughhhhh birthday today 😬😬".
Meanwhile, one user shared a GIF, along with the caption, "This isn't a very happy birthday so far for Patrick Mahomes.

As one NFL fan wrote, "So far the way the Chiefs are playing isn’t very Happy Birthday Patrick Mahomes of them 🥲."
Chiefs Bounce Back In Second Half
To start the second half, Mahomes had a better time as he almost immediately threw a touchdown pass to his number one target, Travis Kelce, who returned this week after missing week one.
Happy Birthday, Patrick Mahomes
Many members of the NFL took to social media to wish, including the Kansas City Chiefs, who wrote, "The gift that keeps on giving. Happy Birthday @PatrickMahomes! 🎉".

While Jackson Mahomes, Patrick's brother, kept it simple for his birthday, writing ""Happy birthday p! Love you bro bro!"" on social media. Jackson Mahomes has found himself in some legal trouble as he was arrested on May 3, 2023. The social mediaa influencer was subsequently charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of battery related to an incident involving an incident at Kansas nightclub.
He pleaded not guilty.
