According to Page Six, a source with inside knowledge of the situation noted that the actor is "devastated" and "very sad" about his split from Furness.

Jackman and Furness met on the set of the Australian TV show "Correlli" in 1995 and got married less than a year later. Things reportedly started to go south during the COVID pandemic, as the Daily Mail reported that the lockdown "really put a strain on their relationship," leaving it "broken" by the time restrictions were lifted.

Although they tried to hash out their differences at the time, the recent Hollywood writer's strike dealt another blow to their efforts, leaving them to go with the next "best option" to remain friends.

"They worked on it and couldn't get it back... Hugh found it all to not have the same magic as they once had. Deb had similar concerns and thought separating is the best option," a source told the news outlet.

On the heels of his separation from Furness, Jackman was seen for the first time without his wedding ring. In images and videos shared by Page Six, the actor was without the symbolic accessory as he left his Tribeca home on a Citi Bike.

For the outing, the "Logan" star kept it casual in a dark-colored T-shirt and black jeans. He wore it with black sneakers and Aviator sunglasses and was seen chatting with fans and passersby.

Jackman and Furness' separation was said to have been "a long time coming," as a source teased that people already knew there was trouble in paradise when "Deb wasn't at rehearsals very much" for his Broadway return in "The Music Man," and was even spotted "snoozing during some of them."

"It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it," the source noted.

"We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives," the statement continued, adding, "This is the sole statement either of us will make."
