Future NFL Hall of Famer and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers underwent surgery to repair his torn Achilles, which he suffered just four plays into his debut.

"An MRI confirmed today that Aaron Rodgers officially tore his Achilles on the fourth play of his Jets' career," Schefter reported Tuesday. "Rodgers' season now, officially, is over. There already are questions about whether his Hall-of-Fame career is, too."

Although head coach Robert Saleh has admitted he wants to see Rodgers involved in the team throughout the season, Rodgers is missing from the game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Jets head coach Robert Saleh recently spoke out, admitting he hopes Rodgers still sticks around the club to help mentor and coach quarterback Zach Wilson, who will be taking over the starting position.

"I think it's essential," the coach said. "I think it's important for him. Mental health and healing, I think that's very important. But his presence, his words… As I said, he's as much a football coach as a player, and just having his presence, thoughts, words, and leadership, I think anyone would want that."

Despite him not being present, sources say Rodgers has been FaceTiming with Zach Wilson this week, making sure he's up to speed as he takes over the starting quarterback position. The team and head coach hope to see Rodgers involved as soon as he can.

Following the surgery, the quarterback hinted that he plans to return to the game as soon as possible. "There's a lot of different ideas about the overall length of the rehab. I think I'd like to say that just because nobody's ever done it in a certain way doesn't mean it's not possible," Rodgers said. "I have some odds stacked against me based on age, but I like it. Stack all the odds up against me and see what happens. My entire focus and dedication are about acquiring the most information and adding to what I've already put together as a pretty damn good rehab plan that will shock some people."
