Salma Hayek 'Honored' To Be Receiving The 2023 Giving Tree Award

Actress Salma Hayek is "honored" to be receiving the 2023 Giving Tree Award from Baby2Baby.
The annual award, which is distributed to a celebrity who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to improving the lives of children throughout the world, has previously been given to Hollywood stars like Amy Adams, Drew Barrymore, Kate Hudson, Kim Kardashian, and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name a few.
Salma Hayek Is ‘Honored’ To Receive Baby2Baby’s Annual Giving Tree Award
“I am so honored to be receiving the Giving Tree Award from Baby2Baby. My 39 years of involvement in supporting the well-being of women and children give me a deep appreciation and admiration for their heartfelt commitment and efficiency to get the job done. I am very proud to share their mission and am eager to keep learning from these remarkable women,” the “From Dust Till Dawn” actress said in a statement, as reported by Variety.
In 2008, the 57-year-old actress co-founded The Kering Foundation, which aims to free women from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. She later partnered with Gucci to create the “Chime For Change” campaign, which focused on advancing the education, health, and justice of young women.
In 2015, she teamed up with UNICEF to visit Syrian refugee camps and started the “Chime For Education” campaign to raise money to send the children of refugees to school to get an education. Two years later, in 2017, she helped fundraising efforts for earthquake victims in Mexico and raised almost a million dollars for UNICEF.

That same year, she partnered with the PepsiCo. Foundation and Habitat for Humanity to deliver almost two hundred houses for displaced earthquake victims in Mexico. Variety also noted that she has been a longtime supporter of nonprofit organizations, such as Girl Effect, The Cameron Boyce Foundation, and Fondo Semilla.
In a statement, Babe2Babe co-CEOs Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof said, “It’s our honor to pay tribute to Salma Hayek Pinault with this year’s Giving Tree Award for her extensive work on behalf of vulnerable children and families.”
“From her commitment to combating social injustices and disaster relief efforts to her work supporting refugee children, Salma exemplifies everything that this award represents,” they continued. “We applaud how she has used her platform to increase resources and opportunities for women and girls, and we are thrilled to highlight her extraordinary commitment to these causes.”
Salma Recently Raised Awareness For Earthquake Victims In Morocco
In early September, the “Black Mirror” actress shared a brief statement to her Instagram Stories addressing the earthquake in Morrocco that has claimed the lives of thousands of individuals. “The news of the earthquake’s devasting impact in Morocco breaks my heart,” she wrote. “My thoughts are with the unbreakable spirit of the people of Morocco during this difficult time.”
She also created an Instagram post to share a statement for Care.org, recommending three different ways to contribute: donating, signing a petition, and sharing the post to spread awareness. “The news of the earthquake’s devastating impact in #Morocco breaks my heart,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “The deadly #earthquake has left thousands in dire need of essentials like shelter, food kits, blankets, and cash assistance.”

God bless you,” a third fan chimed in. “Thank you for your support and for being a person with a big heart,” another follower shared.

The Care.org Instagram account also commented on Salma’s post, writing, ‘Thank you for supporting the people of Morocco!” along with an orange heart emoji.
