Looks like Tory Lanez will not be hitting the town anytime soon!
The rapper's bid for bond has hit a roadblock, dashing hopes of an early exit from his prison sentence. The musician, known for his beats and bars, was convicted for the 2020 foot-firing incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, and the judge's gavel came down on him in 2022.
Tory Lanez Denied Bond, Remains Behind BarsĀ
The Canadian artist's request for a bond during his appeal has been rejected, meaning he will stay in custody. The star had sought to live with his wife and son while awaiting the appeal's outcome following his conviction in the shooting case involving Stallion.
TMZ reported that on Thursday, the hearing on his request hit a dead end as the judge cited his violent felony conviction, past court order violations, and non-U.S. citizenship as the reasons for the rejection
Despite Lanez's defense emphasizing his valid work visa and lack of incentive to return to Canada, the magistrate remained unmoved by their argument. The 31-year-old's legal status in the U.S. did nothing to tip the scales in his favor.
Last month, the songwriter received his verdict, a ten-year prison sentence, following charges that could have led to over two decades behind bars. His conviction encompassed three charges: assault with a semiautomatic weapon, negligent firearm discharge, and possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm.
It was also reported that the "Say It" artist is navigating a markedly altered existence within the walls of Los Angeles County Jail from his previous glitzy lifestyle.
Gone are the days of recording studios and extravagant parties, the "They Don't Know" singer's daily rhythm is defined by the stark contrast of his jail cell. It was reported that he is subject to rigorous schedules, with only a handful of hours granted outside his confinement.
Law enforcement sources reveal that Lanez is currently housed in the administrative segregation unit, awaiting transfer to prison for his impending ten-year sentence.
The ASU serves as a designated area for inmates who cannot be securely housed alongside others. Despite this, the "Daystar" artist is granted access to essentials like groceries and toiletries from the commissary.
However, Lanez's time outside his cell is also strictly regulated. He is allocated just two solitary hours daily, and any outdoor recreation is limited to a mere three hours per week, providing a brief respite in the open air.
Megan Thee Stallion Flaunts Legal Victory On Stage
After a period of legal battles and setbacks, the five-time American Music Awards winner strategically returned to the limelight, gracing the stage at the 2023 Outside Lands Music Festival with unwavering confidence.
Per The Blast, the "Savage" artist seized the moment to celebrate her legal triumph just days after a high-profile judgment involving Lanez, in true "hotties" style. San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Park hosted the annual three-day festival, as a diverse lineup of musical acts enthralled the crowd.
While Sunday, August 13, signified the festival's finale, it was the performance by the acclaimed Texas-born rapper that truly stole the spotlight. In a fan-captured video and images shared by @itsKenBarbie, the "Cognac Queen" hitmaker left no room for leftovers as she owned the stage.
Dressed in a bedazzled, all-pink ensemble, the voluptuous star exuded captivating Barbie-esque vibes, showcasing her envy-inducing curves. The 28-year-old paired her attire with cascading waves of magenta-red hair and spoke directly to the audience, with a special nod to her dedicated Hotties fanbase.
Although she did not explicitly touch on the shooting case, the media personality expressed gratitude for their unwavering support. Emotions evident in her voice, the two-time MTV Video Music Awards winner opened up, saying, "Being a hottie, in general, is just not f**king easy."
The audio paused briefly, then she continued, "Can rock with me, can fight with me, fight for me, I appreciate y'all." With that being said, the "Suga" artist fired back at those who doubted her innocence and criticized her throughout her legal struggle with Lanez.
With unwavering resolve, the "Big Ole Freak" songstress declared, "So today I just wanna say f**k all my haters! None of that shit you was doing or saying broke me." Megan went on, earning raucous cheers from the audience as the video ended, asserting, "None of that shit y'all be saying or doing to the hotties broke them."
