Selena Gomez was caught on camera last night during MTV's annual Video Music Awards making a visible reaction, and now the "Single Soon" singer is attempting to shut down any ensuing internet chatter.
Gomez, 30, stunned on the pink carpet at Tuesday night's 'VMA's, and would later snag a 'moon man' for her hit collab with Rema, "Calm Down."
The "Only Murders In The Building" actress seems to hoping that social media sleuths will-ahem- 'calm down' about a moment making the rounds on Instagram.
As the announcer calls Chris Brown's name for the "Best RnB category," Gomez appears to be scrunching her nose as Rema is seen slowly nodding before clapping.
To Gomez, the moment was simply a moment. The "Rare" singer responded to an outlet's news clipping about her reaction, and many followers on the outlet's Instagram post stood behind Gomez with support.
Gomez Has A History With Shutting Down Internet Chatter
Earlier this year, The Blast covered several aspects of a viral social media theory attempting to support an idea of Gomez's longtime "foe," Hailey Bieber, deliberately attempting to 'copy' several aspects of Gomez's life, and subtly reference Gomez in social media posts, including an Instagram story post featuring Kylie Jenner.

Gomez took to her Instagram story to plead with followers to put a pin in the vitriol toward Mrs. Bieber. Gomez and her on-and-off boyfriend, Justin Bieber, finally ended their relationship in 2018, and Bieber married Bieber (neé Baldwin) mere months later.
The pair have been linked on the internet ever since.
In Gomez's story slide she wrote, "Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn't what I stand for," the "Lose You To Love Me" singer continued. "No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really all want this all to stop," she concluded the post.

Gomez Responded To The Viral Moment
Following the outpouring of commentary on social media, Gomez hopped on her own social media to denounce the discussions.
She wrote, "I will never be a meme again. I'd rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love," Gomez concluded without directly referencing the situation.
The third season of "Only Murders In The Building" is currently streaming on Hulu.
