Brian Austin Green has shared a heartfelt update on Shannen Doherty's ongoing battle with terminal cancer.
The "Little House on the Prairie" actress, who initially faced stage 4 breast cancer, recently revealed that it had spread to her brain in June 2023. Now, Green has praised her for remaining "tough" amid the heart-wrenching battle that began in 2015.
Brian Austin Green Admitted To His Love For Shannen Doherty
Following her initial 2015 diagnosis, Doherty underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, which led to remission until 2020. Unfortunately, the cancer made a devastating return five years later, and it was confirmed as incurable.
Since she shared that particularly heartbreaking update, fans, friends, and family have rallied around her, with many sharing their support publicly. The latest celebrity to show that he has her back is Green, whom she starred alongside in the hit series, "Beverly Hills, 90210."
Speaking to the Herald Sun, the 50-year-old hunk effused, "She's an incredibly tough person. If there's anyone who could put up a real fight to cancer, she's one of them. It's not an easy situation, obviously, but I love her to death."
His co-star has remained candid with her fans throughout her battle, even posting footage on Instagram of her first radiotherapy treatment. As tears streamed down her face, Doherty told viewers:
"On January 5th, my CT scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterday's video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain. The first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life."
As The Blast reported, she continued her monologue, stating, "I am extremely claustrophobic, and a lot was going on in my life. I am fortunate to have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at cedar sinai. But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like."
After viewing the video, countless fans flocked to the comment section to convey their unwavering support and admiration for Doherty's bravery in candidly sharing her struggles. One fan warmly expressed, "Thank you for sharing; you are a powerhouse! It must be terrifying! Hope you can feel the strength and love the fans send you."
"We love you so much Shannen. We're with you. Unending support for you as you continue to share your journey. I wish I could personally take away the fear and whatever pain you experience at times. Much love to you," a second netizen penned.
The Memphis Born Actress Had To Divorce Her Latest Husband Amid Her Cancer Battle
In July, The Blast observed that the 52-year-old beauty's contentious divorce from Kurt Iswarienko had also shaken up her life. The "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" star filed for divorce in April of this year, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the breakup and noting that she and Iswarienko became separated in January.
The stunning dark-haired celeb alleged in a statement issued via her representative that "divorce is the last thing" she wanted to go through then. "Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option," the rep claimed, adding that Doherty's estranged partner and his agent were "intimately involved."
While fans were still trying to take that in, the "Charmed" actress put out a comment that many believed referred to the shocking divorce on Instagram. "The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness, and total respect," she wrote at the time.
The divorce proceedings took an even more dramatic turn when Iswarienko responded to the divorce filing with one of his own. The cameraman noted the date of marriage as October 15, 2011, marking 11 years of marriage for the former lovebirds. However, he did not specify the date of separation, unlike Doherty in her paperwork.
In case you missed it, this would be the screen queen's third marriage ending in spiltsville. She was first married to Ashley Hamilton, with the union lasting from 1993 to 1994. Following the collapse of that marriage, the two-time Bravo Otto winner tied the knot with Rick Salomon in 2002 and divorced him in 2003.
