Kathy Griffin is weighing in on the drama surrounding Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis, over their relationship with Danny Masterson.
The spouses became the public's enemy once their letters to a judge soliciting a reduced sentence for their longtime friend were released on social media. Several fans were outraged by their decision to support the disgraced entertainer, and the comedian was in the same group.
However, the power couple's friendship with the convicted rapist hit too close to home for the "My Life on the D-List" star. The older entertainer empathized with the victims because her late brother allegedly used to prey on innocent women and children.
Kathy Griffin Uses Her Battle For Justice Against Her Sibling To Criticize Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis
The 62-year-old addressed the dynamic duo's support of Masterson on her TikTok page, sharing a lengthy video about why she could not condone their actions. According to the Oak Park native, the couple should never have stood behind the actor, even if they once knew him as a "good guy."
"I don't really care that when they were working on 'That 70s Show,' he was like a good guy to work with and worked actively to keep people off drugs cause he’s a Scientologist," Griffin said, referencing some of the points Kutcher and Kunis highlighted in their plea letters.
After going on a Scientology rant where she described the religion as an alleged deadly cult, the "Kathy Griffin: A Hell Of A Story" star revealed that her late brother Ken Griffin had been a pedophile. The entertainer's sibling was allegedly a super in an apartment building, giving him access to his victims.
Although she did not know how many innocent children the deceased had preyed on, Griffin revealed there had been two victims she was aware of and desperately tried to help. "I wrote about it in my first book, and it was a horrible, horrible thing, and I tried to get him caught," she explained.
"Now, this was my brother, so I don't want to hear about Ashton, and Mila, and Giovanni Ribisi, and people that feel like they had to stick up for Danny Masterson because he was their bro. He was their buddy," she bashed the convicted actor's friends for supporting him when she turned against her own blood.
Recalling her late brother's crimes, the comedian noted that two of his girlfriends revealed he had physically abused them violently. In the building he managed, he allegedly molested a young boy and a girl. Despite losing her family's love for trying to expose the deceased's crimes, the authorities were not helpful.
The 62-year-old claimed the police said they could only act if her brother or one of the abused children confessed to the molestation. Because neither happened, Ken was left unpunished, leaving his sister with a terrible sense of helplessness and a desire to believe all victims.
"The point is, blood was not thicker than water in my case. And if you know that somebody is committing SA, you should do something if you can. My God, at least try," the Oak Park native concluded her message.
Christina Ricci Calls Out Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis For Supporting Danny Masterson
Griffin is not alone in her disappointment about the spouses' petition for the "Men at Work" actor. Over the weekend, Christina Ricci penned a lengthy message on her Instagram Stories that seemed directed at the couple.
Although she did not mention names, her words supported abused victims and bashed those who defended the perpetrators. The TV personality noted some people hid their cruel intentions behind a friendly facade and they should not be defended.
The 43-year-old's first message read: "So sometimes people we have loved and admired do horrible things. They might not do these things to us, and we only know who they were to us, but that doesn't mean they didn't do the horrible things, and to discredit the abused is a crime."
Calling out Kutcher and Kunis's letters that described Masterson as a man with a good character, Ricci added: "People we know as 'awesome guys' can be predators and abusers. It's tough to accept, but we have to. If we say we support victims – women, children, men, boys – then we must be able to take this stance."
In a second message, the Santa Monica native revealed she had met abusive men who pretended to be friendly and had also suffered from such relationships. "Unfortunately, I've known lots of 'awesome guys' who were lovely to me, who have been proven to be abusers privately," the entertainer confessed.
"I've also had personal experience with this. Believe victims. It's not easy to come forward. It's not easy to get a conviction," the 43-year-old concluded her emotional post.
