The rapper and his wife, Bianca Censori, were reportedly laughed at by onlookers as he went barefoot, and she used a cushion to hide her chest. Italians have called the couple an "embarrassment" to the country, and online critics also mocked them for trying to look "avant-garde."

West and Censori are currently battling an indecent exposure scandal for showing his bare butt during a boat ride in Venice. Meanwhile, new reports claim that West and Censori's antics in Italy are to promote his upcoming album.

Kanye West is keeping a low profile in Florence after a recent humiliating experience with his wife, Bianca Censori. The rapper was spotted on a solo outing in Florence on Sunday, shortly after he and Censori were allegedly laughed at while walking on the streets.

Photos of the couple showed Censori using just a purple pillow to cover her topless chest while West walked barefoot. According to the Daily Mail, onlookers could be seen laughing at the celebrities as they walked away. Hours before their alleged walk of shame, Censori was seen holding on to the same pillow during dinner with West.

However, during their dinner date, Censori wore a long-sleeve bodysuit. West, in contrast, was entirely covered in black clothing for both outings, but the "Stronger" rapper chose to wear only socks on his feet.

Per the Daily Mail, after photos of West and Censori on the streets of Florence, Italy, went viral online, Italian residents criticized their behavior. One person wrote, "They are an embarrassment to our country. If it is for publicity, they are mistaken because all this behavior does is disgust decent people."

Online critics also mocked the "All of the Lights" rapper and his architect wife for trying and failing to look edgy. A comment read, "Everyone is laughing at her lol. Girl, what the hell are you thinking? Even if this is just a publicity stunt the joke is on you!."

Another comment read, "People are laughing at them. And not as in, 'Wow, look it's Kanye'. It's, 'Wow, these people are in our beautiful country and think they're really something." 

While adding to the mockery, a fan wrote, "They think they're being so avant-garde but the world is laughing at them."

West and Censori are currently battling an indecent exposure scandal because of an earlier incident in Italy. The "Can't Tell Me Nothing" rapper gave fellow tourists and passers-by a shock when he exposed his bare butt on a water taxi in Venice.

The couple were riding in the taxi with a friend when West exposed his butt during what seemed to be a lewd moment between him and his wife. The couple appeared unbothered as Censori knelt in front of him, and people in neighboring boats filmed the shocking act. The photos and videos of the moment quickly went viral on social media.

The viral photos triggered a lot of Italian locals and social media users to call for their arrest for public indecency. In Italy, the punishment for this is a heavy fine of about £10,000 or prison time. The private rental boat company has since announced a lifetime ban for West and Censori for the incident act.

There's been a lot of speculation over West and Censori's fashion choices during their Italy trip over the last month. From the rapper's barefoot choices to Censori's barely there clothing, the couple have been under heavy scrutiny and criticism.

Amid the criticisms, sources revealed to Page Six that they believe West is trying to grab attention to promote his next album. The theory is that the "Praise God" rapper is doing all this with Censori as a publicity stunt to help them push the "comeback" album.

A source told the news outlet, "He's been cooking up in the studio all summer. It sounds crazy." The new project would be West's first album since the release of "Donda 2" in February 2022. At the time, the Yeezy founder released the project exclusively on a Stem Player, so it's unclear if it'll be in a similar exclusive format this time.
