The fans asked for it and they are getting exactly what they want as the Slatons are set to return for season 5 of "1000-Lb Sisters."
Despite earlier rumors suggesting that the TLC fan-favorite show, featuring sisters Tammy and Amy on their weight loss journey, would conclude after season four, a source has now indicated that new episodes are in progress. Multiple viewers have been clamoring for the show's return, with many taking to social media to express their enthusiasm.
Tammy & Amy Slaton Set To Resume Filming For Their Notable Reality TV Series
Fans of the Slatons can finally stop worrying about the future of their beloved reality television series after an insider shared that "1000-Lb Sisters" was set to resume filming for its fifth season after a weeks-long delay. In case you missed it, season four cameras stopped filming after they captured Tammy at her late husband Caleb Willingham's funeral last month.
Exclusively speaking about the series' return to TLC, an insider told the U.S. Sun that the upcoming season will focus on "Tammy's upcoming skin removal surgery." Following her gastric bypass surgery last year, the star of "1000-Lb. Sisters" achieved significant weight loss, going from 717 pounds to nearly 340 pounds between Fall 2021 and this past summer, totaling almost 400 pounds.
However, this rapid weight loss has resulted in excess skin, which she is reportedly ready to address by undergoing surgery. Going by the source's words, season five will prominently feature the 37-year-old's preparations for the procedure, although a specific timeline has not been publicized yet.
In her sister, Amy's case, it remains unconfirmed whether her latest romantic interest, Tony Rodgers, will be featured on the show. Even though his intentions regarding the series are unclear, the loverboy is said to have moved in with the 35-year-old.
While the couple have been dating for just over four months, it appears that Tammy does not approve of the affair. As a source previously claimed to, during a recent group road trip, the reality star commented that Tony and Amy "fought so much that they missed numerous exits and just screamed at each other the whole time."
"They are still acting like a happy couple," the insider further alleged. The relationship surfaced briefly after Amy and her former husband, Michael Halterman, battled it out in divorce and custody courts.
The former lovebirds share two boys Gage and Glenn, with Halterman featuring in previous seasons of "1000-Lb. Sisters." Unfortunately, the informant claimed that the 40-year-old is now "out of the picture."
Even though TLC has not officially announced plans for season five, Tammy shared with her fans on TikTok that the second half of season four is scheduled to be released on December 12, 2023.
Fans Pleaded With Tammy For A Date On The Series' Return
Per The Blast, fans expressed their desire to witness more of Amy and Tammy's vulnerable journey towards shedding their weight on July 24. It began when Tammy shared a selfie of her natural face on Instagram.
In the image, the reality television star positioned her face close to the camera, drawing attention to the streaks of color in her hair and eyes in the image. Aside from the thousands of likes the post received, many fans also took to the comment sections to express their wish for her comeback.
"Are y'all coming back to television? Haven't heard anything. Tired of 90-day fiance franchise. Please come back," one fan pleaded, as another netizen expressed, "When's the next season I'm tryna get crunk."
A third devotee asked, "When r u guys returning to tv," prompting an observer to respond, "Think I saw that it's the 6th September in England x," and another added, "There [SIC] already back on discovery+." Meanwhile, this fan lengthily gushed:
"You are a really pretty woman. I'm so happy that you're keeping on your new life change. I can't wait to see you when you're all finished with your program. I've been trying very hard these wait. I've gone through two knee surgeries in the last four months and I've been in rehab since so I hope that I can turn out like you."
Tammy had also shared in a now-deleted clip in the same month, "What people don't know is, like, Season 4 isn't over. My wedding was a two-part thing so it made Season 4 have more episodes, so we have Part B coming out December 12."
