Alabama Barker is one lucky girl to have a dad like Travis Barker.
He showed his support for her in the best way possible via a handwritten note after she was recently body-shamed online. This seems to be part of the challenges that the budding star, who has navigated through difficult times, including the loss of her pet pug, is now grappling with as a public figure.
Alabama Barker's Dad Travis Shows Her How Much He Loves Her
The heartfelt message comes as a beacon of support, especially after she bravely addressed critics who persistently commented on her weight gain. The 17-year-old daughter of the rockstar and his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, shared a touching message from her dad.
She posted a picture of the note on her Instagram Story, expressing appreciation for the "Blink-182" drummer. The sweet words read, "You are my everything…Dad," to which she responded by writing back at the bottom of the image, "Your truly the best dad @travisbarker."
After enduring weeks of hurtful body-shaming comments spurred by recent paparazzi photos, including being labeled a "catfish," the teenager decided to speak up for herself. In a TikTok video, she opened with a bold declaration to "eat you up since I'm so fat."
Alabama pointed out that paparazzi would often capture unflattering moments intentionally, like in the "middle of a sentence, and any ugly picture they can get of you just for views." She challenged her critics by stating:
"I would love to see you guys getting random pictures of you taken when you're leaving the grocery store, in the middle of a sentence, with your mouth wide open, and let's see how beautiful you look."
The model disclosed her thyroid problem and autoimmune disease as factors contributing to her weight gain before urging, "So, it would be very appreciated if you guys just keep your opinions to yourself. It'll get you further in life."
Alabama went on to elaborate that her weight naturally "fluctuates" and expressed her desire for young girls witnessing this to never "think there's something wrong with it."
She emphasized, "There is a certain point where if your health is getting affected by it, that you need to change it, but no… That's not the case for me, and I would appreciate it if you guys put yourself in my shoes."
The social media star's candid video resonated with her audience, garnering praise in the comments. One viewer wrote, "ATE & left NO crumbs 🤌🏾," and another chimed, "She calmly and respectfully ate the girlies up."
Others who had faced similar thyroid issues swiftly shared their own experiences, like this person who empathetically wrote, "I gained 25lbs from autoimmune induced thyroid disease .. thyroid meds take awhile to work, and even still it's hard/never the same! you're gorg 💘."
Another supporter added, "I have thyroid problems and an autoimmune disease too so I understand 🥺 weight really does fluctuate."
Travis And Alabama Barker Mourn The Passing Of Beloved Pet Dog
In November, the father-daughter duo were left grieving the loss of their cherished pet — a French bulldog named Blue. In a poignant tribute to the canine, who was a treasured member of the family, Alabama uploaded a short clip that showed her tightly hugging him while gently rubbing his body. The teenager wrote:
"I love you, Blue. You will never understand how much you helped me on my darkest days."
She continued reminiscing, stating, "You slept next to me, the way I would throw your ball, and you would run with excitement, or the eyes you had that just touched everybody, I'll never forget you, my baby. I know you'll have the most amazing time up in doggy heaven. Until we meet again my love."
Alabama also shared more videos and photos of the endearing dog, including one where he was cozily wrapped in what seemed to be a blanket. His soulful eyes captivated attention as they gazed directly at the camera.
Her father's typically imposing demeanor softened as he took to his Instagram Story to share the news of Blue's passing with his fans. He uploaded a video of himself and his daughter gently petting the dog and a heartfelt message:
"I'll miss you Blue. You were the best dog. I was always waiting for you to say something. Love you 4ever boy."
