Michelle Williams Secretly Weds Musician Phil Elverum

In this month's Vanity Fair, cover girl Michelle Williams reveals she secretly got hitched to indie musician Phil Elverum.

Williams says the pair met through a mutual friend and wed in a "secret ceremony in the Adirondacks, witnessed by only a handful of friends and their two daughters." Elverum, who also has a daughter, found himself in a similar circumstance as his new wife after the tragic passing of his partner several years ago.

Williams, of course, has one child with the late Heath Ledger.

While Williams usually keeps her private life under lock and key, she opened up significantly to VF.

“I never gave up on love,” the "Blue Valentine" actress said. “I always say to Matilda, ‘Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.’ Obviously, I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.”

In the interview, Michelle Williams also addressed the massive pay disparity with actor Mark Wahlberg for "All the Money in the World" due to re-shoots after Kevin Spacey had to be replaced when allegations sexual misconduct surfaced. It was "a private humiliation" that she said "became a public turning point.”

“It wouldn’t have occurred to me to ask for money for the re-shoots. I just wanted to do the right thing on his behalf,” said Williams, referring to Anthony Rapp who accused Spacey of assaulting him as a teen.
