Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Are STILL Following Each Other On Instagram

Pop star Britney Spears and actor Sam Asghari are still following each other on Instagram, despite reports to the contrary.
On Wednesday, August 30, the "Hold Me Closer" singer deleted her Instagram account and then brought it back a few hours later. During that time, it looks like several websites erroneously reported that the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor had unfollowed the Princess of Pop from Instagram.
However, it looks like they might have only seen Britney's account disappear from his follow list when she deactivated her Instagram account because now that she's back online, it shows that he follows her again.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Are Still Following Each Other On Instagram Despite Conflicting Reports
On Thursday, August 31, The Blast obtained screenshots from the accounts of both celebrities. Sam is following 327 accounts on Instagram. When fans do a search for "Britney," her name immediately comes up, along with the name on her Instagram bio: Maria River Red.
Britney changed the name in her bio to "River Red" last year and then added "Maria" in the spring. Plenty of fans have wondered, but the pop star has still not given a reason behind the name change.
As for Britney, it seems that she is still following Sam. She is only following 48 accounts, but his name is right at the top when fans click on the button to see who she is following.
Although it's been reported that the two are not speaking amid the split, it looks like they are still following each other on social media.
Sam Asghari Addressed The Split One Day After Divorce Filing
On Wednesday, August 16, the 29-year-old actor filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the actor listed July 28, 2023, as the date of separation. The following day, he took to his Instagram Stories to release a short statement regarding the divorce.
“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” he wrote. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Sh*t happens. Asking for privacy seems [ridiculous] so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
Britney Spears Says She Was 'Shocked' By The Split
The couple started dating after meeting on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016. Sam popped the question in September 2021, shortly before her 13-year conservatorship was struck down by a judge in November 2021. The two tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony at her Thousand Oaks estate in Los Angeles, California, in June 2022.
The day after Sam took to Instagram to share his statement, the "Mind Your Business" singer took to Instagram to share a video that featured her dancing in a black shirt, black boots, and bright green bikini bottoms. In the caption, she reflected on their six-year relationship and admitted that she was "a little shocked" to see her relationship come to an end.
“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!" she wrote at the time. "But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!"
"I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!! I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!!" she continued. "If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors !!! But that’s when I needed family the most !!!"
"You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!!" she concluded. "So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty d*mn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”
It looks like she is still doing well despite the split. On Wednesday night, after her return to Instagram, the pop star revealed that she was on vacation in Mexico and shared a video of her dancing in an animal-print bikini.
