Jessica Simpson Says She Feels 'Nutured & Supported' With Husband Eric Johnson

Jessica Simpson has only positive things to say about her husband, Eric Johnson, whom she has been married to for close to a decade.

Simpson and Johnson tied the knot in July 2014 in Montecito, California, after being engaged for over three years. They also share three kids— Maxwell Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and Birdie Mae, 4.

The duo seems to be a match made in heaven, according to the "Employee of the Month" actress, who recently gave an insight into their blissful relationship, pointing at how supportive her husband has always been from day one.

Simpson opened up about her marriage at PetSafe's Unleashed event, celebrating International Dog Day, where she touched on how accommodating the father of her kids is. The Texas native, who celebrated her ninth wedding anniversary with Johnson last month, said of their marriage, "It's nuts. It's kind of crazy. I feel like Eric and I have been together so much longer." 

She continued, "We have been together for a long time, but it feels like 20 [years]. My life before him, I had a blast. But once I met Eric, I feel like it was more nurtured. Everything was more supported. Everything felt so easy."

Simpson admitted that while she did not find it hard to love anyone, she believed people found it difficult to love her.

"I have always thought that I was hard to love, that I was too much for people, or my schedule was too demanding. I couldn't be a roadie all the time. I couldn't be a football wife. It was hard," she shared.

However, with the former NFL star, the 43-year-old songstress felt "secure" as he embraced her career and understood her through and through more than anyone else. "I knew the instant we met that I could see my future in his eyes," she revealed to People. "And with a lot of people, I hope for a future in their eyes, but with Eric, I saw it."

At the same event, Simpson spoke about what she and her husband do to keep their romance going despite having three little ones. She divulged, "It's hard, but he'll leave me little notes because he'll wake up earlier than me. He'll leave me little letters," adding, "There's a lot of things that make me like, 'I can't wait to get my hands on him later.' I think you have to have those little things as a couple that are just between you two." 

The country-pop star further mentioned that the lovebirds now feel their kids are grown up, making them often worry the youngsters would walk in on their "hanky panky time." Simpson's relationship with the ex-athlete goes as far back as 2010 when a source close to them confirmed that they had been dating since May.

Johnson was still legally married to his ex, Keri, at the time but had been legally separated since October 2009, and they were in the middle of their divorce, while Simpson and her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, had been divorced since 2005.

In October 2010, the 43-year-old sportsman and his ex-wife finalized their divorce, leading him to propose to the "A Public Affair" musician the following month. Not long before their engagement, Simpson confirmed she was pregnant with their first child, Maxwell, whom they welcomed in May 2012. 

The following year, their second child, Ace, was born, and in 2014, they married in style at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California.

Earlier in March, Simpson enjoyed an unforgettable weekend trip with her husband alongside a few of their pals and naturally blessed fans with highlights on Instagram.

Two uploaded images displayed the sweethearts posing side by side with The Jessica Simpson Collection founder looking stylish in an animal print coat, chunky knee-high boots, and sunglasses.

In another picture, capturing an intimate moment between the couple, they shared a passionate kiss while a spicy snap showed the former 49ers player grabbing his woman's backside.

"Stole my lover and friends for the weekend," Simpson proclaimed in the caption, and in no time, many of her fans flattered her with compliments while gushing about her and Johnson's genuine passion.
