'The Crown' Recreates Prince William And Kate’s Runway Moment
“The Crown” is officially releasing its sixth and final season later this year. The new season will recreate several significant events from the royal family over the last two decades. This includes how Prince William met and fell in love with his wife, Kate Middleton.
The sixth season will recreate the moment William first saw Kate walking in a fashion show. At the time, they were both students at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. The Duke of Cambridge has revealed he fell for Kate when he saw her wearing a transparent mini-dress for the fashion show.
Ed McVey portrays Prince William, while Meg Bellamy portrays Princess Kate in the Netflix series. It’s been ten years since Prince William married Catherine Middleton at the Abbey on 29th April 2011. They now have three children together: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Netflix Reveals Photo Teasers From 'The Crown' S6
Netflix’s producers recently attended the Edinburgh Film Festival and spoke about the upcoming season. They revealed still photos of the various actors playing the young royals on the set of “The Crown.” The Sun published these still photos.
One of the pictures showed McVey and Bellamy walking together around the university campus. Another featured them gazing at each other lovingly in the nearby library. A third reveal showed Luther Ford playing a teenage Prince Harry, as he almost hit someone with a rifle.
Season 6 Follows The Royals From 1997 To 2005
Season Six of “The Crown” will follow the royal family’s experiences and various tragedies from 1997 to 2005. One such crisis is Harry’s costume party scandal, where he wore a WWII German officer’s uniform. He even had the complete cap and swastika armband.
The aftermath of the costume was accusations of antisemitism and insensitivity on the part of the young Prince. Harry quickly released a statement apologizing for the costume at the time. It read, “I am very sorry if I caused any offense or embarrassment to anyone. It was a poor choice of costume, and I apologize.”
Even years after the incident, Harry has still shared his feelings of shame for wearing the costume. During his “Harry & Meghan" docuseries, the Duke said it was “one of the biggest mistakes in my life.” He added, “I felt so ashamed afterwards. All I wanted to do was make it right.”
Harry also revealed in the docuseries that after the scandal, he spoke to a London Chief Rabbi and a Holocaust survivor. He said, “I could’ve just ignored it and probably made the same mistakes over and over again in my life. But I learned from that.”
'The Crown' S6 Will Recreate Princess Diana’s Car Crash
Another significant event that will be recreated in season six is the tragic death of Princess Diana. The princess, who died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, is played by Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki.
Suzanne Mackie, the executive producer of “The Crown,” was present at the Edinburgh film festival. She said they filmed the car crash scene delicately, thoughtfully, and with “enormous sensitivity.”
Mackie said, per NYP, “The show might be big and noisy, but we’re not. We’re thoughtful people and we’re sensitive people. There were very careful, long conversations about how we were going to do it. The audience will judge it in the end, but I think it’s been delicately, thoughtfully recreated.”
Mackie also praised Debicki for her portrayal of Princess Diana in the sixth season. She said, “Elizabeth Debicki is an extraordinary actress, and she was so thoughtful and considerate. She loved Diana. There’s a huge amount of respect from us all — I hope that’s evident.”
