One Direction's Liam Payne Postpones Tour After Being Hospitalized For 'Serious Kidney Infection'

Liam Payne has postponed his South American tour due to a severe kidney infection.

He recently opened up about his mental health struggles, revealing diagnoses received after seeking help in a wellness clinic.

Liam Payne has been grappling with a severe health condition, one he says he wouldn't wish on his worst foe. Unfortunately, this ailment has compelled him to cancel his upcoming tour.

In a message addressed to his fans on Instagram, the One Direction star conveyed his disappointment, explaining, "It's with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America."

He further shared, "Over the past week I've been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, It's something I wouldn't wish on anyone, and doctor's orders are that I now need to rest and recover." Payne expressed his remorse to ticket holders and assured them of efforts to reschedule while refunding in the interim.

The tour was supposed to happen in September, with the singer performing in Peru, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico.

Supportive messages flooded the comments section as fans rallied around Payne, extending love and well-wishes for his swift recovery. 

One fan emphasized, "Please take all the time you need to rest and recover. Your health and well-being are the most important things right now. I love you endlessly. Sending you all my love."

In recent weeks, Payne has been hinting at his musical comeback while sharing updates about his sobriety and his activities since the release of his debut solo album, "LP1," in 2019.

During an interview with iFL TV before a boxing match in London in May, he mentioned, "I've been making an album for a change, which is quite fun."

He continued, "It's been good, I'm excited to bring it out, and I definitely want to tour this time, which is unusual. Because I wasn't sure I was going to tour for a long time. I was kind of over it a little bit, but I'm really excited to get back out on the road and go and see all the fans. It's gonna be fun."

Payne openly discussed his mental health journey, revealing that he received diagnoses for several conditions after seeking help in a wellness clinic in the US.

Following a period of struggle, the 29-year-old shared a candid Instagram Story expressing a tough day and his ongoing challenges. Payne disclosed experiencing "manic" moments and difficulties maintaining sobriety during "super low" phases.

In the video, he acknowledged having filmed multiple versions before deciding to share his story. Payne mentioned, "I know in my last video I mentioned I'd been diagnosed with a couple of conditions," hinting at his experiences.

He described the contrast between his manic episodes and the times when he lost sobriety during low points, emphasizing the importance of recognizing both aspects separately.

With a support system around him, Payne acknowledged his journey, stating, "Luckily I have some amazing people around me that kind of look after me, but I am sure they can see it in me too that I'm 'not really here.'"
