Zendaya wants to maintain control over the parts of her life that the public sees.

Even though she has been romantically involved with actor Tom Holland for longer than anyone can recall, there is plenty of information still missing about their relationship. The actress has now revealed that the low-key profile of their love life is intentional because she wanted to control the narrative as much as she could.

Zendaya Cares More About Protecting Her Peace Of Mind Than People's Perception Of Her Relationship

In a move no one saw coming, Zendaya shared a rare insight into her notoriously private relationship with Holland recently. The disclosure occurred while she was posing for US ELLE for a publication that was released on Wednesday.

During the interview, the 26-year-old actress was asked if the interest coming from adoring fans about her and the "Chaos Walking" actor's romance made it easier to accept.

Responding, the "Zapped" performer acknowledged that while she knew that certain aspects of her life would inevitably be in the public eye, she has realized that she retains the power to choose what she discloses. In her words:

"Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can't not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share."

Expounding more on the issue, the "Shake It Up" star stated that it was about safeguarding serenity and "letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist." She added, "You can't hide. That's not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now."

Despite their best attempts to keep things under wraps since then, they have occasionally provided fans with swoon-worthy content. For example, in 2017 they famously appeared together on "Lip Sync Battle," with the "Malcom & Marie" actress performing as Bruno Mars and her man wearing the cap of Rihanna.

In another insightful move, the "Crowded Room" actor gushed about his bond with his partner, pointing out, "I'm lucky that I have someone like Zendaya in my life. It's interesting being in a romantic relationship with someone who is in the same boat as you. You can share your experiences and all that sort of stuff and that's worth its weight in gold."

Similarly in June 2022, Zendaya fawned over her man in a special tribute that she posted to her Instagram page in honor of his 26th birthday. Pairing a vintage black-and-white picture of them sharing a hug with a heart emoji in the caption, she penned, "Happiest of birthdays to the one who makes me the happiest."

Less than one hour after the post went live, Holland left three heart emojis in the comment to signify his affections for her. In case you missed it, the superstar lovebirds were first linked in 2017 after they starred opposite each other in the Marvel superhero film, "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

The British Academy Film Award Recipient Won Zendaya's Heart Through His Carpentry Talent

Last month, The Blast observed that the three-time Saturn Awards winner shared a heartwarming story that delighted fans. He recounted how he employed his carpentry skills to make a favorable impression on the "Euphoria" star during the early stages of their relationship.

He revealed that he assisted in repairing a broken door in Zendaya's apartment, highlighting his craftsmanship and creative abilities. Before detailing exactly how he came about showing off his carpentry skills, the 27-year-old explained:

"Carpentry is something I just really enjoy. I made my mum's kitchen table. I made my mum's office. I built all the cupboards in my bedroom. I built a little birdhouse with my granddad. I fixed my girlfriend's door once really early on in our relationship."

Now, to the heart of the matter, Holland expressed, "I was hanging out at her house, and her door was broken. I was like, 'I'm gonna fix that door for you.' And now we're in love."

As for their choice to remain lowkey, the English hunk explained that he and his ladylove were "incredibly protective" of their relationship and did not think they owed it to anyone to break the "sacred" bond.
