Mel B and Stephen Belafonte's Restaurant Serafina Loses Liquor License

Serafina Sunset, the West Hollywood restaurant co-owned by exes Mel B and Stephen Belafonte, has lost its liquor license after failing to keep up on payments.

Serafina's license was suspended by the Board of Equalization on July 26, according to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The restaurant, which is one of several locations around the world, previously held a type 47 license, which restaurants need in order to serve beer and alcohol.

The suspension, which is still active, was carried out following a hold by the board in May for a nonpayment issue. According to the board's website, "your alcoholic beverage license may be suspended if you are three or more months past due in the payment of taxes or penalties due under the Revenue and Taxation Code, or if the taxpayer’s bond becomes void or unenforceable for any reason."

Belafonte and Brown are partners in Serafina, alongside Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato. The Italian eatery opened in the Fall of 2016 and became an instant celebrity hotspot.

Just a little over one year later, the restaurant announced it was closing it's West Hollywood location and reopening a new spot in Santa Monica, however there have been no updates on the relocation since the initial announcement.

Belafonte insists to The Blast that he made the payment one week ago and the issue has since been resolved. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, disputes his claims.
