Singer Britney Spears is reportedly looking to repair her relationship with her father, Jamie Spears, after years of estrangement.
The 41-year-old pop star was subject to a 13-year conservatorship from February 2008 to November 2021, in which her father was largely in control of her personal and financial affairs. Despite several critical comments about her father and alleging abuse that she suffered under his hands during the conservatorship, it seems that the pop star is ready to move on amid her divorce from actor Sam Asghari.
It seems that the pop star is willing to make amends with her father almost two years after her conservatorship was struck down by a judge. Reports indicate that her father is in ill health and Britney wants to make amends before it is too late to do so.
Britney Spears Reportedly Wants To Make Amends With Father Jamie Spears Amid His Health Scare
A source told the Daily Mail on Wednesday that the singer is concerned about her father’s health and doesn’t want to “regret waiting too long” to make amends. Jamie is reportedly “elated” by the possibility of getting a chance to repair his relationship with his daughter.
According to TMZ, Jamie has been in and out of the hospital for months. He was first hospitalized several months ago when doctors believed that there was something wrong with his kidneys. It looks like he might have developed a “terrible” infection from a knee replacement that he had sixteen years ago.
On Friday, Jamie will reportedly undergo surgery again to try to clear the infection away from the metal in his knees. Sources say that the pop star’s father is “extremely thin” after losing more than twenty-five pounds, adding to growing concerns about his health.
As of right now, sources told the outlet that the only family member that Britney is in touch with is her brother Bryan, who recently visited her at her home and told her how Jamie’s health struggles.
Britney Has A Complicated Relationship With Sister, Mother Over Memoir Release
Britney’s tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me” hits bookshelves on October 24, 2023, but it looks like there is already some bad blood between Britney and her mother, Lynne Spears, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, regarding comments she made about them in the book. As such, last month, Britney made the decision to delete some “nasty” comments about them in order to patch up the relationship.
Sources told the Daily Mail that Britney had a lot of “anger” about the way her mother and sister treated her doing her conservatorship and decided to let it all out in her memoir. However, she later decided to “let all of this go” and delete some of the harsh statements she made about her family in order to help repair her relationship with her family.
“Britney was not asked by Lynne or Jamie Lynn to remove some of the nasty stuff she'd written about them,” a source told the outlet. “It was her own choice to do this.” Her mother has been working to repair the family and even flew from Louisiana to California to visit Britney at her home in May.
Lynne Spears Is Reportedly 'Furious' At Sam Asghari For Filing For Divorce
At the time, a source told the Daily Mail that Lynne would “not rest” until the family was back together. “Lynne is begging Britney to make amends with her sister Jamie Lynn now,” the insider divulged. “They are both leaning towards a yes. Lynne knows that Britney does miss her sister and she told her that the feeling is obviously mutual.”
Only one day after Sam Asghari filed for divorce on August 16, one insider told the Daily Mail that Lynne was “furious” with the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor for “abandoning” her daughter and was “begging” the pop star to leave her Thousand Oaks estate in Los Angeles and come stay with her in Louisiana to “heal and regroup.”
“Lynne is furious at [Sam] for abandoning Britney,” a source said. “He took a vow to stand by her side through sickness and health – and he knew she was not well [when they married].” They continued, “Lynne is begging [Britney] to leave LA and live with her,” adding, “LA is toxic and the only thing keeping her there was [Sam]. Lynne believes she can heal and regroup in Louisiana, then return to LA when she is ready.”
