Rumer Willis is sharing the unique story behind her daughter's name! The first-time mom welcomed adorable baby Louetta with the singer Derek Richard Thomas in April 2023.

The entertainer rose to fame as the oldest daughter of Bruce Willis and his ex-wife Demi Moore. Like her famous parents, the Paducah native pursued a career in the film business, making her debut as a child star.

At 35, the TV personality has made a name for herself in the industry, and she is currently focused on her latest accomplishment as a mother. Raving about her precious bundle of joy, the "Now and Then" actress revealed how fate played a significant role in her daughter's identity.

Recalling the memorable event to PEOPLE, the media personality confessed the couple had never considered naming their daughter Louetta. But as fate would have it, a spelling error inspired the newborn's unique moniker.

"We were thinking about the name Loretta, and it was a typo. Her dad and I were texting, and he left the 'R' out of Loretta, and it was just Louetta," the Broadway star explained.

Instead of correcting her beau, the "Chicago" actress went with the flow as she believed a higher power was in play. The stage performer chimed: "I was like, 'Oh, I love that!' I feel like it was one of those kind of divine intervention universe moments, and we figured it out actually quite early in my pregnancy."

Despite feeling like fate had orchestrated her daughter's name, the 35-year-old admitted she could not help but worry about her decision. Willis stated she was concerned about the moniker not fitting her baby's appearance.

"What was scary was, I love this name, but oh man, is it going to be her name? Is it the right name? What if she comes out and doesn't look like this?" The Paducah native recalled her troubles.

Despite her fear, the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star claimed no other name but "Lou" would have been appropriate even if she had welcomed a boy. The Young Hollywood Award winner said:

"I fell in love with the name so much, so early on, that I was then worried that it wouldn't work. But then she came out, and I mean, to me, at least right now, I was going to name her Lou, whether she was a boy or a girl."

Additionally, the name "Louetta" offered the first grandchild of the Willis clan a range of options for future nicknames. The TV personality noted she and Thomas loved the moniker for its "versatility."

"I wanted to find something that had a lot of versatility. If she doesn't feel like a Louetta, she can go by Lou; she can go by Etta. She can go change it up throughout her life. Whatever she wants," the proud mother of one raved about her daughter's choices.

The Teen Choice Award Nominee Had To Break Her Amniotic Sac During Delivery

Louetta's conception has filled the entertainer's life with several unforgettable experiences. Besides divine intervention playing a part in the newborn's name, the little girl was welcomed via a home delivery that saw Willis breaking her water bag.

While appearing on the “Informed Pregnancy“ podcast in June, the new mom gushed about the life-changing “crazy” moment. Recounting the ordeal, the 35-year-old stated she went into labor with an intact amniotic sac.

Despite being ready to give birth to her daughter, the "Empire" actress stated her “water bag was bulging but still not popping.” Given this was not an ideal situation, the midwife overseeing the delivery concluded it was safe to intervene and allowed Willis to break her amniotic sac.

Under the doula's guidance, the TV personality “reached [her] finger up there and could feel this little bag … like a water balloon but with a bit tougher skin.” During her next contraction, the entertainer successfully popped the water bag, much to her surprise.

“There’s a photo of me, and I just have this look of shock and surprise on my face because it’s a different sensation when the water bag is pushing against your cervix to when the baby’s head is,” the Paducah beauty explained, adding that her labor went smoothly after this moment.
