There is good news for fans who didn't get a chance to see the Britney Spears-inspired musical "Once Upon A One More Time" on Broadway.
Although the pop star isn't featured in the play, it is based on some of her hit songs, like "Oops!... I Did It Again" and "Toxic." Unfortunately, audiences failed to fill seats and Broadway announced that the play would be shutting down.
Fortunately, there is good news for fans looking to watch the fairytale play based on the pop star's music. Sources have revealed that there is a national tour in the works, to bring Britney's music to a theater near you!
Britney Spears Broadway Musical ‘Once Upon A More Time’ Will Live On
Unfortunately, the “Once Upon A One More Time” musical will feature its final performance on the Broadway stage on September 3. The play told the story of fairytale princesses seeking enlightenment and featured some of Britney’s top tracks. The play began preview performances at the Marquis Theatre on May 13 and officially opened on June 22.
Unfortunately, the show failed to impress critics and audiences failed to fill seats. The Hollywood Reporter noted that less than fifty percent of seats were filled for the past seven weeks. On the week of August 13, the Broadway play had its lowest-grossing week to date, leading to the decision to close the production on September 3.
For what it’s worth, Briteny had approved of the musical and promoted it on Instagram when it was first released. The musical was also notable because it was one of the first agreements that she signed after a judge struck down her conservatorship in November 2021. In other words, it was one of the first major decisions about her career that Britney made herself.

Fortunately, producers James. L Nederlander and Hunter Arnold are determined to let the show live on. They revealed that the Broadway play is going to be turned into a national tour, with international productions in the works. This is not the first time that the play has been shown to large audiences, as it had its world premiere in Washington D.C. in November 2021.
In a statement, the two producers said, “We could not be prouder of this beautifully joyous and exhilarating show – which is not only a love letter to Britney’s iconic artistry and singular effervescence, but also a brilliant display of the boundless talent of our cast and creative team,” adding, “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to this dream team of collaborators, performers, designers, staff, crew, and investors who continue to share our passion and joy for this project. As plans take shape for the show’s future life around the globe, we’re excited to share more news soon!”
Britney’s Fairytale Romance With Sam Asghari Has Come To An End
On August 16, Sam Asghari filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to court documents obtained by The Blast. He listed the date of separation as July 28, 2023, hinting that there had been trouble brewing for quite a while.
The two tied the knot on June 9, 2022, but one source told Page Six that trouble had started from the very beginning. “There were a couple of funny moments when Britney was giggling through the vows,” a source said. “But it was such a fun wedding. Britney sat with the wedding planner. She wanted a flower wall. She wanted pink. She designed her dress, and Donatella Versace flew out to LA twice. She had a wedding rehearsal the day before. Britney was in charge.”
Ultimately, though, their relationship came to an end fourteen months later. “Britney wanted a fairy tale, and she didn’t get it. She felt that Sam’s love was not unconditional,” the source said, noting that she and Sam had been living separately for months. “Of course, she feels let down,” they added. “Anyone would when your partner is not providing for you in the way you feel you need to be provided for.”
“She booked great, high-end vacations and paid for everything. They went everywhere on [a] private jet. But he was not super present,” they continued. “You only have to ask, where was he when Britney was filming all her Instagram videos? He would just disappear for months to go filming [for work], and she would be left all alone. There were times when he would just get up and go.”
They also denied reports that Britney had cheated on him and allegations that she had attacked him while he slept. “There was no cheating. And he’s 6-foot-2 and she’s 5-foot-2, so how could she attack him?” they asked. “The honest truth of it is that it’s complicated. This wasn’t a whiplash decision. It’s been in the works for the past month.”
Although there have been conflicting reports about her relationship with her family, the source said that she does have support from family, friends, and even a therapist. “Britney is strong. She’s feeling like, ‘Whoa’ like you would in any breakup when you’ve been with someone for six years, but she’s very clearheaded. She’s not holed up all alone crying,” they said.
“I think Britney gets a bad rap. She’s a true artist in the way that she processes things, in the way that she creates," another insider divulged. "But she’s doing incredibly well under the circumstances.”
It appears that the pop star is doing well despite the divorce, as she recently shared a video of herself dancing to "Sauce" in a camo-print bikini on Instagram.
