The long-awaited Lil Nas X documentary, "Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero," is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. The documentary will feature the on-stage and off-stage lives of Lil Nas X during his "Long Live Montero" show."
Following the announcement, fans commented on social media that they were anticipating the documentary's debut. It comes several weeks after Lil Nas X announced that he had partnered with Crocs as their new global ambassador.

Lil Nas X Doc Documentary Shot To Debut At Toronto Film Festival
Lil Nas X will debut his documentary, "Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero," at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival next month.
The documentary was reportedly shot over 60 days with unparalleled access through the creation and performance of the Grammy award-winning rapper's acclaimed "Long Live Montero" show.
Per Deadline, the production crew consists of Dave Sirulnick, Caryn Capotosto, Saul Levitz, Adam Leber, Adriana Arce, and Gee Roberson. Meanwhile, Meredith Bennett, Jon Kamen, Tom Mackay, Krista Wegener, and Frank Scherma also make the list as executive producers.
Filmmaker Carlos López Estrada took the helm on the film, bringing in his stellar talents, which were previously seen in "Blindspotting," "Raya and the Last Dragon," and well-executed music videos for Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, and Carly Rae Jepsen.
He is joined as a co-director by Zac Manuel, who helmed "Time," "Alone," "America," and "This Body."
What Is The Documentary All About?
Per the official synopsis, the film "follows Lil Nas X as he embarks on his first ever global tour." It further explains that it "is a remarkably intimate portrait of an artist on tour navigating identity, family, expectations, and acceptance, all while reflecting on his place within the legacy of Black, queer performers."
TIFF's CEO, Cameron Bailey, also had words of praise for the documentary ahead of its debut in September.
"Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero is a triumphant ode to the extraordinary power of self-expression, music, and identity," he said, per Deadline.
He added, "In this groundbreaking documentary, we witness Lil Nas X challenging boundaries and reshaping the artistic landscape. The film's captivating journey underscores the profound impact of Lil Nas X, who fearlessly brings audiences together through the universal language of music."
Fans Are Eager To Watch The Documentary
On social media, fans have revealed that they are eager for the film to debut and have lauded the rapper for making a documentary worthy of being shown at TIFF.
One person said, "Many, many people do not truly appreciate what an achievement being selected to premiere at the TIFF is. This is bigger and more meaningful than an album, y'all."

Lil Nas X Announces Ambassadorial Deal With Crocs
The news of the documentary comes over a month after the rapper was announced as the latest global ambassador for footwear giant Crocs. The exact value of the deal remains uncertain, though indications point to a potential worth in the millions of dollars.
"I'm always all about taking things to the next level, so I'm super excited to partner with Crocs on this new height collection," said Lil Nas X in a statement, per Variety. "These new styles are so sick, and I know everyone's going to love them!"
Some of the new offerings include the Siren Clog, the Siren Chain Clog, and the Mega Crush Color Dip Clog, all of which boast very innovative designs.
With regards to the partnership, Croc said their collaboration with the rapper represents "bold and unbridled self-expression and welcoming everyone to truly come as they are."
They had previously partnered successfully with other musicians like SZA, Diplo, Post Malone, and Justin Bieber.
