All of Hollywood’s young elite were under the same roof but it was Lili Reinhart, Amandla Stenberg and Shawn Mendes who stole the show.
The trio was honored on Tuesday during Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event hosted at Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood. The “Hunger Games” actress, 19, who recently came out as gay, and the “In My Blood” singer, 20, were selected specifically by Variety and awarded their own covers for the magazine’s new issue.
Reinhart was awarded the H&M Conscious Award for her body positivity and bringing awareness to mental health. During the event, she was honored with the award by her “Riverdale” co-star and show mom, Mädchen Amick.
Praising the 21-year-old for all that she does, Amick said that Reinhart is “one of the most beautiful, powerful, brave actresses that I’ve ever worked with in my career.”
Accepting the award, Reinhart, who’s regularly critiqued Hollywood and body shamers for impossible body goals, delivered a powerful speech.
“Being proud of who you are is a power that not all of us possess but we should all be conscious of the power we have to change someone else’s world, simply by being open about our own faults and creating a caring environment for those who are looking to share their own experiences,” she said.
They may be young, but these kids are changing Hollywood.
