It looks like Britney Spears might be planning a career comeback amid her divorce from Sam Asghari.
The 41-year-old pop star has released two songs since her controversial conservatorship ended in November 2021. Her first single, "Hold Me Closer" featuring Sir Elton John, was released last August, while "Mind Your Business," featuring will.i.am, was released last month.
Now that the singer's 14-month marriage is coming to an end, it looks like she is taking the time to focus on her career again.
Britney Spears Reportedly ‘Focused’ On A New Album With ‘Big Artists’ Amid Sam Asghari Divorce
Although the “Circus” singer has been vocal about never touring again in several past Instagram posts, it seems that she is still eager to continue a career in the entertainment industry. The Princess of Pop is still one of the biggest names in music, and there are many artists who would love to get a chance to collaborate with the “Toxic” singer.
On Thursday afternoon, a source told Page Six that she is “focused” on releasing a new album around the same time her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” hits stores on October 24, 2023. “Ideally, she would love to do a record and maybe a song for the book release,” one insider shared, while another noted that “She has an upcoming writers camp and is getting songs from some big artists.”
Britney’s last album was 2016’s “Glory” and fans have been eager to hear more music from the pop star, even if they won’t get a chance to see her perform live. “Britney has trauma from touring,” an insider told Page Six in May 2023. “For so many years, she was handed grueling itineraries and made to perform — even before her conservatorship.”
“She still loves dancing and making music,” the source continued. “She has talked about recording again and has gotten plenty of offers, some of which she’s turned down, but it’s all about timing and picking the right projects. She’s savvy like that.” The insider added, “The beauty of Britney being free again is that she gets to call the shots for the first time in a very long time, and she’ll do it at her own pace.”
Will.I.Am Believes That Britney Has A 'Plethora' Of Unreleased Music
Following the release of “Mind Your Business,” the Black Eyed Peas frontman told TMZ Live in July 2023 that he believes that Britney has a lot of music recorded with other artists that fans have not gotten to hear yet.
“I can tell you from this experience of fine tuning, Mind Your Business, um, she went over some ideas, like, ‘Hey put this on it,’ and I’m like, ‘Yo, Britney, this is idea, that you just gave right now, is actually a new song. This is freaking crazy,’” he said at the time.
“She gave this idea,” he continued. “I was like, ‘Wow, wow, wait, you can’t just throw this away in this song. This is a whole song within itself.’ She has ideas and an idea factory. I could only imagine that Britney is sitting on a plethora of songs that she’s done with different producers. I’m pretty sure her and Pharrell probably have stuff that was unreleased.”
“I’m pretty sure that she has to have… no artist that is that prolific, that’s an idea machine, doesn’t have a plethora of song,” he added. “The moment she goes in the studio and focuses on a record, you know it’s going to be earth shattering. I just, it’s going to be earth scattering because there’s not that many people that have been through what she’s been through that is going to help folks that having similar situations.”
In a separate interview with Extra, the Grammy winner said that it is “awesome” working with her in the studio, saying that she has “tons of ideas” for new songs. “I see her loving to express herself and dance. I see frustration when it comes to people prying into her private life. But I see joy,” he said. “I see a person that has fought for their independence and that is inspirational."
He also expressed hope for another hit single with his frequent collaborator, adding, “Whenever she wants to record or write, I’m there.”
