Taylor Swift made a giant 'pivot' in her career three years ago.

The world was changing due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which unintentionally lead the now 33-year-old singer to experience a notable creative period, wherein she wrote a large volume of stripped-down songs, and worked with mellow, acoustic kings Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner.

Swift's previous career pivot would also coincide with a major stylistic change six years earlier; she traded her trademark 'country curls' for a sophisticated bob haircut, which coincided with a sonic change with her music. 'Swifties' fell in love with the "Tim McGraw" singer in the mid-aughts for her relatable coming-of-age country tunes. In 2014, Swift was ready to trade in the cowboy boots for shiny James Dean daydream-tinged pop music, and not every single Swiftie was on board with the stylized music change.
Some 'Swifties' Weren't Huge Fans Of Swift's Next Musical Pivot

Change can be difficult to get used to, especially when it's applied to a beloved pop star. With having such a devoted fanbase great vocal pushback can arise. When Swift released "folklore" and "evermore," the two records that resulted from the creative-high she experienced during the earlier quarantine days of the pandemic, some Swifties weren't as excited with Swift's creative pivot as the "cardigan" singer, herself. Three years later, social media discussion has inspired an idea over Swift reportedly 'hating' the latter album.
"folklore," originally released in July of 2020, began trending on X on Tuesday. 'Swifties' shared their feelings about the record, and discussed their thoughts concerning where they believe it fits in Swift's discography.
What Are Fans Saying About 'folklore?'

The "folklore" hashtag on X was filled with posts like this one, reading "Breaking my silence: Folklore is my least favorite album, This one isn't a dare." Many fans also revealed which songs are "skips" for them.

One Swifties began a thread for other fans to air their most controversial "folklore"-related opinions.
"it's by far the most underrated album and really should be rated lower," one Swiftie wrote.
"folklore is overhype[d]. acclaiming it as their favorite album 'cause they can defend it as superior and top tier," another said.
"idk how strongly ppl feel ab this but,, folklore isn’t any more cohesive than evermore (btw i’m not saying it’s /not/ cohesive, just that they both equally are)," another Swiftie weighed in.

"I don't love folklore and evermore as much as the other ppl do," another Swiftie wrote. "I still enjoyed it, it's not bad and I do have some songs that I love, and became one of my favs in that album but as a whole album it's not my cup of tea," they concluded.
