On Monday night, the “Hold Me Closer” singer shared a photo of herself sitting on a wooden floor beside a window in a classic black swimsuit covered with white polka dots. She paired the look with black heels and her signature wavy blonde hair. She also shared photos of herself wearing a red polka-dot dress and a colorful strapless bikini.
However, she wasn’t alone in her Instagram carousel. She also shared photographs of Lucille Ball, Cameron Diaz, and Minnie Mouse, just to name a few. In her caption, she called polka dots “so much fun to wear” and explained the origins of the polka dot for fans who might not be aware of the history of the fashion statement.
“Polka dots have always been so much fun to wear in my opinion !!!” Britney wrote in the caption of this Instagram post. “It definitely adds a nice touch to any ensemble !!! Have you ever wondered how they came to be ??? They’ve been around for centuries and guess what ??? The name comes from the POLKA DANCE !!!”
“You know that little thing we learned in school called the ‘Industrial Revolution’ ??? Well that's when the first working sewing machine was built which finally made round evenly spaced dots !!! It derived from the Czech peasant dance !!!” she continued. “1900s Minnie Mouse debuted in polka dots !!!”
“Thousands more wore polka dots as well as Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball (1950s), Goldie Hawn (1960s), Princess Diana, and Julia Roberts (1980s- 90s) !!!” she went on. “I’m showing my respect to polka dots today because I feel they give a hint of joy and happiness when I put them on !!!”
“Here's a pic of me in early the 2000s with my polka dot bikini 👙 👙 👙 👙 👙 👙 with the same reading glasses I have on today !!!” she continued. “I also did a pull of some of my current favorite polka dot wardrobe pieces TODAY 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️👠👠 why ??? Because why not 👙🌹 !!!”
Is Britney Finally Getting Ready To Open Up About Her Conservatorship With Oprah Winfrey?
On Sunday, the “Gimme More” singer started trending when it was reported that she planned on sitting down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview ahead of the release of her new memoir, “The Woman In Me,” this October. The highly anticipated memoir is planned to discuss Britney’s life during her conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021.
Sources told The Sun that Oprah’s team had actually reached out to Britney’s team for a sit-down interview after the conservatorship ended, but Britney was not ready at the time, as she was “still coming to terms with independent life and mentally processing her freedom.” However, an insider noted that the pop star is “in a different place” now and ready to talk.
“The [interview] proposal remains complicated for Britney who continues to face challenges speaking to strangers at length about intimate aspects of her life,” the source revealed. “The trauma didn’t go away overnight just because the conservatorship ended. Some days can be extremely testing and conversations can trigger her to behave unusually or even erratically.”
“Certainly, putting a TV lens on her could be problematic and it means that a proper news-style interview is out of the question,” they continued. “However, a more feature-style interview, allowing her and the team to have control is an option. A move like that, to work with a production company or someone like Oprah, would be her strongest play, but the reality is managing Britney’s mental well-being and health in the process.”
The memoir will reportedly touch on everything from her life during her conservatorship to her high-profile relationship with singer Justin Timberlake and her divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline, who recently moved his family, including their two teenage sons, to Hawaii on August 1.
Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman In Me,” is scheduled for release on October 24, 2023.
