Linda Evangelista 'Wants Wrinkles' But Still Gets Botox After Botched Fat-Freezing Procedure

Linda Evangelista is determined to maintain her beauty and youth. The supermodel revealed she still gets Botox treatments despite her injuries from cosmetic treatments.

Evangelista's injuries were from a bad reaction to a CoolSculpting procedure to reduce fat cells. The supermodel has filed and settled a lawsuit against the cosmetic company Zeltiq Aesthetics.

Evangelista is one of four "Original Supermodels" featured on Vogue's September issue cover. The "Greatest Of All Time" issue also features Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington.

Linda Evangelista is one of four supermodels featured on Vogue's September issue cover. In her interview with the fashion magazine, she discussed growing old and said she's never minded it because "aging gets us to where we want to be." For Evangelista, what she wants is a "long life."

She said, "(Legendary make-up artist) Kevyn Aucoin was so afraid of wrinkles, and he never got them. I want wrinkles – but I Botox my forehead, so I am a hypocrite – but I want to grow old."

Evangelista's admission that she still gets Botox treatment is surprising because many fans thought she'd stop cosmetic treatments. The 58-year-old spent six years out of the public eye after having a rare reaction to a CoolSculpting procedure. The treatment was meant to reduce her fat cells, but they did the opposite and enlarged them.

Evangelista previously revealed to Vogue that her injuries from the reaction made her "so depressed." She shared that she "hated" herself and said the injuries ruined her modeling career, leaving her with things "protruding" randomly from her body.

She stated, per Daily Mail, "If I had known side effects may include losing your livelihood, and you'll end up so depressed that you hate yourself… I wouldn't have taken that risk. Am I cured mentally? Not. But I'm so grateful for the support I got from my friends and my industry… you're not going to see me in a swimsuit, that's for sure."

Since the faulty procedure, Evangelista has had two liposuction procedures to fix the effects of her reaction. In September 2022, the model announced that she'd filed a lawsuit against the cosmetic company Zeltiq Aesthetics for her grievous injuries from their faulty treatment. The case has now been settled on undisclosed terms.

Evangelista explained to Vogue then that she decided on the CoolSculpting treatment because of its TV ads. She said, "Those CoolSculpting commercials were on all the time, on CNN, on MSNBC, over and over, and they would ask, 'Do you like what you see in the mirror?"

The supermodel noted that she felt the ads "were speaking" to her and giving her solutions to issues like stubborn fat. They claimed that the treatment had "no downtime, no surgery," so she went ahead, and "it backfired."

After years of living privately, Evangelista has been returning slowly to the public scene and modeling world. In February this year, the model announced on social media that she was done hiding and "living in shame."

At the time of her injuries, a CoolSculpting rep told People magazine that the procedure has over "100 scientific publications and more than 11 million treatments performed worldwide." They noted that the rare side effects are also "well-documented in the CoolSculpting information for patients and health care providers."

Evangelista's feature on the cover of Vogue's September issue is part of an iconic appearance with three other legendary supermodels. This legendary quartet includes Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington, considered the "Original Supermodels."

The four catwalk queens reunited on the cover for the first time in over thirty years. They're promoting an upcoming Apple+ TV docuseries, "The Super Models," which tells the stories of their rise to the peak of the modeling and fashion world.

The iconic cover of their "The Greatest of All Time" issue shows the four supermodels strutting down a runway. The body will be used for British and American issues, and the show premieres on August 22nd.
