Tory Lanez Is Living A 'Segregated' Life In L.A. County Jail Pending Transfer To Prison For His 10-Year Sentence

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez finds himself in a drastically different life within the confines of the Los Angeles County Jail.

Recently convicted of a high-profile shooting incident involving fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, Lanez was handed a 10-year jail term.

As the artist navigates life in prison, a glimpse into his routine and experiences reveals that he's locked away from other inmates because he cannot be safely kept with them.

Lanez, known for his chart-topping hits, flashy lifestyle, and charismatic persona, has had to adapt to the structured and confined environment of jail.

His daily routine now revolves around a starkly different rhythm. Instead of recording studios and lavish parties, Lanez is confined to a cell, spending the majority of his day under stringent regulations as he only gets a few hours outside, per TMZ.

According to law enforcement sources, the "They Don't Know" singer is being held in what is known as the administrative segregation unit, pending when he's transferred to prison, where he'll serve his 10-year jail sentence.

The ASU is said to be for inmates who cannot be safely confined with other inmates behind bars. However, the singer is permitted to get groceries and toiletries from the commissary.

Lanez is also only permitted outside his jail cell for two hours a day, where he has to be alone. He's also allowed to take in the fresh air during recreation, but that's for only 3 hours per week.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in the shooting incident that left Meg Thee Stallion injured, per The Blast.

The verdict, delivered by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford, marked the conclusion of the high-profile legal case that has been closely followed by the public since Stallion accused him of shooting her.

In December, the rapper was found guilty of all three count charges leveled against him; negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm.

He'll remain in the L.A. County jail, pending when he's transferred to an intake center where his prison home will be revealed. He's expected to be on the move over the next month.

Before the judge handed him his sentence, Lanez requested leniency as he addressed the court, asking for a sentence that'll allow him to "prove" himself.

"I'm standing in front of you as a father to a six-year-old who needs me every step of the way," Lanez told Judge David Herriford. "There's been this misconception about me being this monster, not having remorse, that's just not true."

He went on, "That night, everyone was drunk, I said things I shouldn't have said. The victim was my friend; I still care about her. We both lost mothers; we'd sit there and drink until we felt numb. Everything I did wrong that night I take responsibility for."

Lanez's lawyer, Jose Baez, has since bashed the 10-year prison sentence, calling it "incredibly harsh" and "extreme" and claiming that his client is being punished for his celebrity status. He revealed that Lanez's defense team plans to appeal the sentence.

Lanez once again asserted his innocence, stating that he would not apologize for the incident. In a lengthy Instagram post, the "Chauffeur" crooner maintained that he was not responsible for the shooting and expressed frustration over being portrayed as the villain in the narrative.

"I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never never let no jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence, and I always will," Lanez wrote. "This week in court, I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved… that's it."

"In no way, shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I'm being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do," he added.

Lanez continued by noting he has always "faced adversity [his] whole life" and that this conviction is "nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall, and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious."

"Tough times don't last, tough people do," he added, thanking his family and friends for their "continued support."
