Fans Can't Believe How Grown Jennifer Hudson's Son Is As He Turns 14

Jennifer Hudson's only son David Daniel Otunga Jr. is all grown up as he clocks 14, and fans are in utter amazement. Hudson shares the teenager with her ex-fiancé, former WWE Star David Otunga, whom she was engaged to from 2008 till 2017. 

As the ex-couple's son turned a new age, the EGOT recipient could not help but flaunt him on social media while expressing pride in being his mother and urging fans to join her in honoring him.

On Thursday, August 10, Hudson was beyond thrilled as she paid homage to her son on his 14th birthday using an entertaining video on Instagram. In the clip, she could be heard in the background but did not make an appearance as she focused on the celebrant, who looked overly fit for a teenager. 

DOJ was filmed wearing a red shirt with his name and "13" printed across his chest while flexing his ripped arms as he showcased some moves with a basketball. Letting fans in on the celebration, the talk show host asked her son, "What's happening? Why you got that 13 on? Ain't you 14 today?" to which he replied, "Yeah, this the shirt I wore a year ago today."

Hudson then asked, "How old are you today?" and while grinning, DOJ answered, "14 now," before the proud mama broke into a happy birthday song. In the caption, the 41-year-old musician expressed: 

"Team Jhud, can yal pls help me wish wish my kid DOJ a very happy 14th BIRTHDAY, today! Wow, yal wow, I can not believe that I now have a 14 yr old !!!! God is so good !!!! Time to celebrate !!! #proudmom."

Commenters quickly obliged as they tributed the birthday boy but also expressed shock in seeing him so developed despite being a teenager. "He's literally turning into a man right before our eyes ?… from 12 to 14…he done manned up .. congrats … and happy birthday," one fan penned while a second wrote, "14!?? What. He was just 5 yesterday ? happy birthday."

A third follower exclaimed, "Can't believe how grown up he is now! Happy birthday, dude, have a great day!" A similarly astonished admirer claimed, "Shiiiiieeetttt he at least 30 ?."  A fifth comment read, "14 ????? He look GROWN AF!!! But happy Birthday ???? Young King ?!!!!" followed by a sixth that stated, "he looks so much older than when we saw him at the premiere, omg! happy birthday :).”

Another commenter, who could not believe DOJ was 14, noted that "time flies" before wishing the boy a happy birthday. A fellow Instagram user declared, "HAPPY BDAYYYYYYY DAVID!!!!????‼️ THIS YUNG MAN DONE GREW FAST GEESH."

Hudson's fans' shock may be warranted given that she rarely posts about the 14-year-old as she mostly keeps him out of the spotlight. Per reports, she also kept her pregnancy a secret and failed to divulge his gender upon his birth.

At the time, her rep told the outlet, "The baby is beautiful and perfect. His parents are ecstatic." When DOJ was only a few weeks old, the "Dreamgirls" actress revealed that he became "very interested in music" as it calmed him whenever he was in tears.

Fans would recall that his birth came less than a year after Hudson tragically lost her mother, brother, and nephew, which made her credit her son for saving her life.

In addition to being his mom's savior, DOJ occasionally graces red-carpet events with her after making his debut at the 2015 Kids' Choice Awards in The Forum, Los Angeles.

After months of speculations about Hudson's love affair with Common, the duo went official last month as they enjoyed a romantic weekend in London.

The entertainers were seen visiting the Barbican Theatre, where they watched Hudson's Broadway musical "A Strange Loop" and posed for photos with the cast members at the end of the performance.

Since rumors spread about their involvement, neither of the Hollywood stars confirmed or denied the allegations but given their public outing, it is safe to assume they are an item.

Per sources, Hudson and Common, who have been close friends, tried to avoid any "commotion" by arriving separately at the Barbican. However, they were said to be "very much in each other's company."
