Kourtney Kardashian may want to pay better attention to the news as her babymoon bliss sparks fans' outrage amid the raging wildfires in Hawaii.
Sharing baby updates is nothing new to the reality TV star, who is expecting her first child with the Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Although her followers eagerly awaited her next baby bump update, the entertainer's latest photo dump was a colossal miss.
As the world unites to pray and send relief to the devastated community in Maui, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star enjoyed a blissful trip with her husband. While there was no fault in her happiness, the media personality's choice of words left a bitter taste in numerous mouths.
Fans Slam Kourtney Kardashian For Failing To Empathise With Wildfire Victims
The drama began on Thursday, August 10, when the Poosh founder dropped a ten-slide carousel on her Instagram page. The images captured moments from the entertainer's trip to Montecito, a town in California.
As seen in the pictures, the social media influencer enjoyed a relaxing experience with her lover. She flaunted her baby bump, visited the beach, and satiated her taste buds with various delicacies. A reoccurring theme in the slideshow was the ocean, which the 44-year-old claimed had a unique effect on her.
"The ocean calms the fire in me," the soon-to-be mother of four penned. As mentioned, the reality TV star's words did not sit well with her followers, given the tragic wildfires in Hawaii.
Many called out the Lemme health brand founder for being "insensitive," criticizing her caption as a distasteful thing to announce amid the suffering in Maui. One fan argued: "Maybe not the best time to say the ocean calms the fire — when people in Hawaii were forced into the ocean because of a fire."
"So insensitive to the people on Maui," another quipped, with a third echoing similar sentiments, writing: "Um, kinda insensitive since what's happening in Hawaii." More people slammed Kardashian's caption with someone describing it as a "poor choice of words."
"Terrible timing for a terrible caption," a fan declared, with a fellow displeased follower agreeing it was a "Gross caption." A third wailed: "That's a really inappropriate caption, jeeez." While the majority hated the TV personality's words, others tried to educate the 44-year-old.
Painting a scary picture of what had happened in Maui during the fire, a resident claimed the expecting mother would never be able to encompass the calming effect of the ocean until she experienced such tragedy.
"My entire town just burnt to the ground, and it's like the people who have the ability to help just pretend not to know what's going on #lahaina," the individual lamented. A second shared similar notions about the socialite, noting her lack of empathy.
"I wonder if you all have thought about the people of Maui? You seem very insensitive," the social media user stated. "Do we really care about your baby bump when the people of Maui are suffering? Really??"
A third echoed: "You wouldn't know fire if the flames engulfed you." Despite the criticisms, not everyone attacked Kardashian's caption, as a few implored the entertainer to help those in need. "Speaking of fire – please use your platform to help Maui @mauistrongfund."
All About The Deadly Wildfires Destroying Numerous Homes & Claiming Several Lives

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, rescue teams picked up seventeen people in the Lahaina harbor. These poor victims had jumped into the water, trying to escape the deadly flames. Per reports, the tragic destruction will take years to be rebuilt while costing billions of dollars.
As for what caused the massive blaze, the commander general of the Hawaii Army National Guard did not have the answer. However, Maj. Gen. Kenneth Hara suspected the dry season, low humidity, and high winds had influenced the wildfires.
