The Internet had its doubts when Joaquin Phoenix‘s version of the Joker was first revealed, but a new teaser showing the actor in makeup is sure to change everyone’s mind.
Director Todd Phillips dropped a short clip from a camera test on Friday, giving DC fans their first look at Phoenix in clown makeup.
Earlier this week, Phillips revealed Phoenix’s character sans makeup in an Instagram post. The image showed a straight-faced Phoenix in plain clothes with the caption “Arthur,” in reference to Arthur Fleck, the man who will later become the Joker in DC’s upcoming origin film.
“Joker” is set to be released next year and after this teaser, it’s safe to bet a lot more Marvel fans will be buying tickets.
